Hotel Blocks

Michelle, on September 26, 2019 at 13:36 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 8
Hello!
I’m looking at hotel blocks and wondering if it is normal to block rooms at more than one hotel?

I made blocks at several hotels because I would rather be safe than sorry, and this provided my guests with different price points (people ended up using blocks at the various hotels too).

I would block off the 2 that are closest by! dont give too many or ones that are too far.

Hotel blocks can be more than one hotel depending on how many guests are staying. Most hotels have enough rooms available and everyone mingling with each other. Other hotels needed inquire and set aside as needed.

The different hotels wouldn't know, yes. I think it depends how many rooms you'll end up needing.

    Thanks Allison!
I was mostly wondering if it was frowned upon but I guess they wouldn’t know we had other blocks. I agree different price points is nice. I talked to the one today and they are blocking 10 to start. Once 8 are booked I can add more.

It for sure depends on how many guests you are going to have use it - but also, it doesn't hurt or cost money to book more than one hotel. Some people might want the cheapest place, others might want to spring for something more expensive that has a pool for kids or just a better rating in general.

    Hi Michelle,

I'd see what the maximum amount of rooms you can block at one hotel and go from there. We blocked the maximum amount of rooms at our Hotel Venue, but hindsight 20/20, we should've done a block at a nearby hotel too. Some of our guests had to book the regular rate or go elsewhere (hotel is sold out now).

I'd keep it simple though and have no more than 2-3 hotels. If possible, try 2-3 hotels with different price points too.
