Help with photography

Christina, on October 9, 2018 at 15:04 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 7
Hey I would like everyone’s thoughts on what I should do or if you know anyone who can help!

i booked my photographer through my Venues prefered vendor. I asked many times on when I would need to book engagement photos and how it all works . I was clear on wanting a fall engagement shoot I was told they were flexible and to see when the leaves start to fall and to call in .
i only have a Sunday or a Monday once a week with my fiancé and unfortunately we are not able to take any time off. I knew there was only a few dates that worked for us on our days off so I thought I would book atleast 4 weeks in advance . I have emailed , called left voicemail and dm on Instagram . It has been over a week and no reply . I called again and finally go through a week and half later . They said they were under Reno’s. I was extremely upset because of course I can’t get a hold of my photographer for that long I’m worried this is just as important as the wedding. There was 0 apologies. I was than told they do not shoot engagement photos Friday , Saturday , Sunday or Monday ! I was not told this prior to signing the contract with them . They’ve taken a 600$ deposit for engagement and wedding , and refuse to give my deposit back when they can not accommodate the days we have off . I was told to take a day off work . She was very unprofessional and rude ! Please can someone help me . Now I’m out 600$ and no photographer for the wedding that we can afford .

Sell to another contract to another couple and get your money back making sure the vendors contract is signed and sent to the pbotographer and you off the hook.

Referrals are sometimes not the best choice to follpw through the halls. Some of them can be shady and sneaky.

The contract is always another catch to get you to sign without telling you everything. Unfortunely, the policy stated non refundeable deposit and feel bad you can't get that back. Your only options would be to:

As suggested to take this person to court and sue them due to breaching the contract for days not spefcified on paper or told in person.

They said they sent me a welcome package after I booked stating it which I never received through email . But the date I put the deposit and signed was August 1st and the date they sent the welcome page went out was August 8th. So after I signed a week later it said that but it was never told to me or written on the contract that they don’t do those days .

But does it say that they can't work on specific days of the week?

I understand you're frustrated and upset. I've been having a difficult time getting hold of my photographer for our engagement shoot as well. A week isn't bad at all though. I waited nearly a month before mine responded. While its annoying, I realize that my wedding is still a year away, its still busy season for her, and I'm not a priority right now.

It makes complete sense that they wouldn't be available weekends. They're wedding photographers, and weddings happen on weekends. So that isn't surprising. Can you do weekday evenings after work at all? It sounds like you, your fiance, and your photographer need to sit down, even if its over skype or speakerphone, and discuss your expectations and availability. Obviously you weren't aware of their shooting schedule, and they're probably not aware of your strict availability.

I havnt told my venue yet that’s definitely the next step . I just didn’t know how to go about this because I can’t afford to lose the 600, I’ve read over my contract it says non refundable deposits !

Did you look over the contract that you have? If they didn't state it there then as much of a headache as it is you could always take them to small claims court? Have you spoken with your venue to let them know what has happened? Maybe they can not only take that photographer off of their preferred list but try and make it up to you in a different way?
