Help!! What are the duties of a maid of honour & bridesmaids?

The "duties" of a MOH or BM are:

- Wear a pretty dres s (which, in most cases, you will purchase with your own money).

- Walk down the aisle and stand at the front during the ceremony.

- Be part of a whole bunch of pictures.

That's it, that's all folks! Everything else on top of that is up to you.

I think in this day and age, a MOH and bridesmaids only have to show up. Anything over and above is a bonus since everyone has different ideas of what is expected of them. My MOH (sister) is good for bouncing ideas off of, listening to me complain, and general support throughout all of this lol.

100% agree with Clarissa! Mi e is an extra set of hands if I ever need for DIY! But honestly my FH and Mom have been my DIY partners! I even planned my bachelorette! Well I booked the lodge were going to for the weekend but I told my girls the rest of the plans would be on them but that's pretty much it! They dont even have to be the witness to sign your papers but that is an option! (My FH's sister will be singing instead)
I wouldnt say they have specific DUTIES. Just are mainly your main go to when you need some support!

The only thing a maid of honour needs to do is sign the license as a witness. This and showing up in a dress that matched my sisters is all I’m asking of my MOH.

But some brides want a more active role and look to their MOH as an extra set of hands for diy projects, vendor meetings, set up and tear down, help organizing and planning the wedding and any pre wedding parties. Bridesmaids are usually a slightly less active role than the MOH or the MOH is the voice for the bride to distribute tasks to the rest of the bridal party.

If you want a bridesmaid or MOH that is more active like this make sure that is made very clear when asking and pick people who actually have the time and funds to be this involved in your wedding plans.

I'm the same, these were just guidelines. The MOH also signs the marriage registration as a witness and can give a speech if you want.

Maid of Honour Tasks

This is a list from Wedding wire of Maid of Honour tasks/roles. You don't have to have your MOH do all of this, she can have the help of other bridesmaids/mother of the bride. Obviously bridesmaids have less tasks than the MOH but they can help her out too.
