Help to plan an inexpensive evening ceremony | Calgary! :)

Shannon, on January 10, 2019 at 14:25 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 4

Hi Everyone!

I'm so lost LOL. Trying to start to plan an evening wedding in Calgary/Canmore/Banff or similar, $5000 or less, in the late fall this year if possible. We are very simple, want a traditional spin on the wedding but we want to be able to only provide buffet style snacks and refreshments, evening ceremony outdoors/or indoors, and dance right after. I love the idea of not having a head table, having a color theme but no tuxedos or bridesmaid dresses, wear what you like type thing (within reason) Hahaa! Don't even know if a wedding planner is worth the cost as we want to keep this under budget as much as possible.

Any ideas would be amazing!!!

    Hi Shannon,
    Congratulations on the engagement!
Another spot to look is the red barn at Shepard Family Park in High River. When I looked it was reasonable and you could source your own vendors etc. I’ll try to find the website tomorrow and post it here.

We’re getting married at the Water Valley Church and Event Center! Definitely check them out! The venue is beautiful and it’s very inexpensive- they even have full wedding packages so it’s easy peasy! And only about an hour from Calgary!

Hi Shannon, welcome to the wedding wire community and congratulations on your engagement!!

I totally understand wanting to keep the budget as low as possible - there are a few people on here already that have mentioned the same thing so you are in good company!

The main part of your budget ends up going to the venue, food, and booze. Chances are that the guest list will also have to be on the small size (like 50-75 people max.).

For venue I would recommend a backyard wedding if you have access to one big enough, farmland, park, or restaurant.

For food, I found that if you went with an all inclusive venue then they would charge you up the butt to use their executive chef and that you HAD to use their chef. In other words - be weary of venues who offer this but don't rule them out entirely if you can find a gem.

Drinks will most likely have to be a cash bar or BYOB in order to stay on budget as my budget for booze (250 people wedding) will be $4000/$5000 alone.

Don't fret though because as things start getting planned we are here to help as a community!!
