Help me please! What do I need to do??

Natasha, on November 20, 2018 at 21:48 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 24
I’m am freaking out internally and I need help with what to do next. My wedding is 7 months away and I feel at a stand still. I will list what I have done so far and then please advise what to do next. I am having a big wedding 300+ so the more I can get done the better. Especially with Black Friday coming up anything I can get over the weekend would be ideal. Thanks in advance.

Things booked:
venue
limo
photographer
videographer
my dress
part of honeymoon
dj

Wow amie. That was sooooo informative. A big help. Yes I have food tasting coming up. Once I get that done I can order invitations and menu. I need to confirm my officiant ASAP. And everything else you stated I need to do as well. Florist I have done for the bridal party but not for decor. I will need to look into that too. Thanks.

My hall has this music thing you plug your device or whatever you want to use and then there are speakers all through the ceiling. I've made extensive playlists on Spotify and will use my computer. I'll probably have someone Manning that. I'll also find and also someone to be my MC. It's so cost effective and fun creating playlists.

I agree... places like Vistaprint will probably have big Black Friday sales, to start looking into all of your invites/stationary, maybe even thank you cards if you're not doing wedding photos on them.

    Definitely the officiant... TOP priority.

Also look into your florist (if you're having one).

Wedding bands? Maybe a Black Friday jewelry store sale for your hubby's band?

Any additional decor pieces you can score on sales this weekend.

    Look into groom/groomsmen/bridesmaids attire.

#1 thing is officiant. as if you don't have that. you can't get married!

and then I would be working on invites. and booking florist and decorator. (if using either)

Don't worry - I'm at 5.5 months, and I feel like I've been at a standstill for the last couple of months.

Things you might want to consider:

    Flowers

Décor (rental or purchase - linens, chair sashes, center pieces, etc)

    Specialty lighting rental (up-lights etc)

Bridesmaids dresses (probably want 4-6 months for them to come in, plus alteration time)

    Stationary (Invitations, menus, programs, etc)

    Caterer

    Cake

Alcohol (if you're having to provide yourself)

    Officiant

    Hair stylist

    Makeup artist

Gifts for parents and wedding party (if you're giving them any)

Gifts for the groom/bride (if you're giving one)

    Favours (if you're having them)

Pre-parties (Bridal shower, stagette - is your MoH planning these? Best to ask so you know!)

You have a good start getting major vendors out of the way. Since you now know the colours and need to have decor, look into rentals for backdrop, centerpieces and artificial floral asking about set up and breakdown included in the price range.

Menu cards on your list to do? Vistaprint has great variety and style to create your personal way.

Officiant should be booked soon too due to timing and date. City hall has the service you can look into.

Don't stress, Natasha, there is still time. Catering is the biggest thing I see missing from that list, followed by an officiant. Have you worked on those already? Have you use the WeddingWire vendor directory to improve your search?

So far so good! Don't sweat too much! But does your venue also provide all the catering? As in if you are having a cocktail hour = hors d'oeuvres and drinks, meal and drinks, late night snack and drinks?

Also maybe look into: officiant/JOP, florist, entertainment, wedding cake, the suits for the guys, bridesmaids dresses, accessories for you in the dress (veil, shoes, jewellery), signage, decor? No, this doesn't have to get done yet - but why not?

    Hi Natasha,

First off, I have a wedding planner and I’ve only booked my photographer. My next step is floral. My wedding planner has told me booking a florist is something to do soon(ish). Give yourself a break, I think you’re doing well. BTW my wedding is August 3, 2019 so it’s only 8 months away.

I would start with creating a wedding day schedule. You can find templates online. It will be working document so don’t fret if it’s not perfect or you don’t know certain things. But it will be a blueprint.

I would create a list of phone numbers including, bridal party and parents. Appoint someone to the ‘go to’ person on the wedding day. You don’t need to be taking phone calls on your wedding day and whoever you designate can handle any loose ends on the day.

I’d also create a key vendor list with all the contacts. This would include your venue point of contact, limo service, photographers, videographer, makeup artist and DJ. Add to the list as you go on. This list will be a bible for you and whoever you to handle the affairs on the day of.

My planner has me doing my stationary (invites) now. So I think invitations would be a good step. I’m sure there will be plenty of sales over the weekend. I’d get ALL stationary done - RSVPs, any signage you’ll need, escort cards, programs, and thank you cards. Trust me, getting all this done is a HUGE weight off your shoulders.

Have you decided on your menu? Have you scheduled your tasting? You may want to do that first if you’re including an entree choice on your RSVP.

Like another lady mentioned, if you know what supplies you need for your decor and center pieces, I would try to grab those over the weekend if they are on sale.

Do you have all your accessories for your bridal look? I would think there would be sales on shoes, jewelry and veils during Black Friday. Does your FH have his outfit arranged? If not, I’d start looking at suit or tux options. Once that’s done, you will both have all your outfits done! Yay!

I’ll be buying my gifts for my bridal party over the weekend bc I know there will be sales. I’ll probably buy them online. Gifts for my MIL and FH are something else I’ll be looking for.

Traditionally, the in-laws plan the rehearsal dinner, has that been arranged? Write down a few locations you’re interested in. Everyone could go together to check them out.

Are you having a bridal shower or a stagette? Has anyone stepped up to plan the event(s)? My MIL and SIL (also my BM) are planning my bridal shower. I’d speak to your family and friends about that. You shouldn’t have to do much as far as planning BUT I’m sure knowing these parties are in order will make you feel better. 🙂

It is NEVER to early to start brainstorming ideas for speeches (and vows, if you’re writing your own).

Are you staying at a hotel on your wedding night? Where are you (and your bridal party) getting ready in the AM? How about the boys, do they have a designated place?

I am not sure where you live but I cannot apply for a marriage license until 6 months before the wedding. After you’ve received it, you can drop it off to your officiant if you’re getting married at a church. Maybe I’m jumping the gun, have you booked your officiant?

Have your bridesmaids got their outfits? Do they want hair and makeup done?

Creating a checklist is helpful. My planner has one and we are constantly adding or removing things. Again, it’s a working document.

Overall I think you’re doing great for being 7 months out! I hope this was useful. Please enjoy this special time.

    All the best!

What about an officiant? They can be booked up fast! I booked mine last week and my wedding is in in 5.5 months ( I got engaged 3weeks ago) I booked the hall and officiant first. I already had my dress. I'm not doing limos or dj etc

When is your wedding date!? I’m under 7 months as well and panicking lol.

Have you given decor and centrepieces a thought? If you’re making your own centrepieces and know what supplies/materials you may need, maybe see if you can get deals this weekend for it.

Also, invites, RSVPs to be printed if not done. And if you haven’t started shopping for your wedding bands, maybe take a look as well? I’m thinking of all small items but how about your cake/dessert table? And if you’re doing a ceremony, have you booked an officiant? And hair and makeup!

Hope that somewhat helps.. I’m feeling the pressure as well Natasha lol.. Smiley cry Smiley amazing
