Start off with using checklists!!! The list from this website has been incredibly helpful for us while planning our wedding. You can even add things to your checklist that may not already be on there. We also purchased a book from the knot that has helped and we make lists at home of things we want to get done right away.

Start off by looking for the big vendors, such as your photographer, flowers, venue, etc. Scout out places you would like and then narrow them down to the ones you need to have. Depending on where you are from, you may need to book right away as vendors in smaller cities/towns tend to book up quickly.

Good luck! Don't forget to use all of us on this site for help throughout the planning process. We are all here to answer any questions you may have Smiley smile

Starting with a budget will allow you to find a venue. Once you find a venue then you can set a date and pick a theme. That's how we got things started! From there we just started saving photos we liked from Pinterest or other sites and slowly decided things from there

The first thing we did was we talked about a budget. I have done everything around that budget. Also talking about what is important to you is also crucial. For us the food and photos were big. So we didn’t skimp on that. Just take a breath and talk about what you want and what’s important. Everything else can be worked into it.

What we did was determined the kind of wedding we wanted first..big, small, family only, kids invited or not.. when we had a rough idea we then set out a budget, talked to our families to see what they could contribute and went from there. Then we picked a rough date, something that meant something to us but was different then other dates to us. Then we went on the hunt for a venue, determined what style of place we wanted. Then everything pretty much falls in place after that. Do lots of research for all vendors, keep notes on who and what you like. Talk to your wedding party see where they can help out. It's definitely not easy, I am doing it from across the country so I know that for sure. But with all the help and support your friends and family offer you'll get there, and time will fly by!

Start with a budget, guest list rough draft to get quotes, have a binder for peoples cards or information you would like to write down. If you use this website it helps with a task list and when to do the items. Depending on location I would consider booking it sooner than that timeline

Exactly as the other said. Binders like the one from the Knot (you can find it at chapters) have to do lists as well detailed descriptions and things to think about for each big item like food, photographer, dress, etc. I found it very helpful. Good luck!

Everything that Carmela said, plus consider using online budget tools or a wedding binder that gives you a breakdown of how much each aspect of your wedding should cost based on your budget.

First thing is first, create a guest list and a budget.
    Then everything else will follow.
Creating the guest list will help you narrow down the size of a venue.
You should create a vision board on Pinterest to collect some ideas also.
