Heat worries!

Shla, on June 24, 2019 at 11:06 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 12
Hey all,

So we've opted for a backyard BBQ at my parents farm. The date we want is June 20th 2020. I'm worried about rain and heat. Mostly heat as we have easy ups at my moms for regular family gatherings that will work for rain.

Does anyone have any suggestions to help combat heat?

A cute idea is when everyones entering hand them a little paper fan or even an electric one (you can find them at the dollarstore) Make sure you have everyone in as much shade as possible. I have even found some pretty decent sized fans at walmart for cheap. Maybe place a few of those outside with extension cords

A tent is a good idea with sides that can close on the sides if it rains. Heat wave can be beat with a few fans around it. Its good you know what works for you and being at your parents home.

Yes, finally! We just don't care much for a big wedding. We're more interested in buying a house in a couple years, haha. So frugal and simple it is!

No booze at all is the plan haha. Ohh I didn't think of sunscreen!! Great suggestion!

We have found some enclosed event tents that are an awesome price so we are gonna pick those up and get the big fans you all have suggested. Thank you!!

Yah, you decided on your venue and style. The easy ups will work for heat too as they do provide shade.

Hand fans, shade umbrella's, WATER (not just booze!), deodorant (I'm sure you may want to reapply throughout the day), and maybe have sunscreen for guests as well.

Our venue was a barn so there was no AC and it was humid! We also had a HUGE thunderstorm and TORNADO WARNING! It was still amazing tho!
What we did for the heat was just had fans set up and our venue had like these huge doors that opened up but they were just like a screen door type thing so it allows lots of air flow.
Also for rain if your worried you can order a bunch of umbrellas on Amazon and if you don't use them you can just return them, that's what we did!
Also for heat maybe you can have fans for your favours or something like that

The wedding I was in on Saturday was hot, but just the right amount of hot. During photos we were able to sneak off into a air conditioned building for a bit and cool off with water.

You could look into renting large fans for your guests, or having paper fans as a favour for each guest. Having lots of non-alcoholic drinks will help too, and by nighttime, it'll cool off.

We have the same issue! Our photographs will be outside so we’re going to talk to our venue coordinator to see if we can set up some beverages inside and we will keep water in the limos.

For rain, perhaps buy/rent a tent to keep people dry? And for photos the clear umbrellas are what we’re going to have on standby in case!

Like Becky said, It is very hard to predict how next year will be. Especially because weather has been a little crazy this year.

Plan to have some fans, shade, and lots of water for guests.

    HI Shla,

Its honestly so hard to know about the heat as the weather has been so crazy lately and what it will end up being next year. What you could do for heat is have some bigger fans rented or watch out to buy to give a breeze for people if too hot. I would also say you could buy those small hand fans that people fan themselfs with
