Head table

Kevin, on January 8, 2017 at 21:50 Posted in Wedding reception 0 8
So my fiancé and I haven't been to any weddings since we were little, so we're just wondering who's supposed to sit at the head table and what the layout would kind of look like? Any help is greatly appreciated!

We're looking at a nature type of venue with having the option of outdoors or indoors. Here's the link to the venue we're looking at if you'd like to see it! http://www.elklakeeco.com seeing how we're planning the wedding in October, we're hoping the leaves are changing to make it a perfect picture!

I'm glad to hear it Kevin! I thought that could also be a great style for you. What venue did you fall in love with? I'd love to see pictures! Let us know how it goes! Smiley love What type of venue have you been looking at?

Thanks for your help Emilie! We've chosen the sweetheart table with the best man/ maid-of-honor and the SOs at the table. It'll suit us more. We really haven't done much yet as of planning, still waiting for a venue to contact us back. We just fell in love with it! Once we have that all set we'll continue to make more arrangements. Thank you all for your help!! It's definitely made this a lot easier! We've chosen the sweetheart table. We're adding on for the maid-of-honor and her date, and the best man and his date.

Valerie nailed it with the 3 different options! The one I see the most is the head table with the bride and groom and the wedding party! I do like the idea of a sweetheart table though and spending time alone with your new husband or wife and I have been hearing about it more and more!

There are actually 3 types of head table set-ups

    1. Head Table - Bride, groom and wedding party

    2. Kings Table - Bride, groom, wedding party and their dates

    3. Sweetheart Table - Bride and groom

I personally would love a Kings table so that my wedding party's SOs don't have to awkwardly sit alone, but space doesn't allow for that. So we are having a sweetheart table.

Most people are used to the typical head table and the dates understand that they may be alone for dinner, but I just didn't want any of my guests to feel uncomfortbale like that. Plus I think it will be nice for me and my new husband to have a few minutes alone on such a busy day

The most recent wedding I have seen, was a restaurant reception with long tables set up for the guests and there was a sweetheart table facing the guests for the bride and groom. The more traditional head tables would be the whole bridal party. I am personally considering the sweetheart table because it's more common in my culture and I don't want the bridesmaids and groomsmen to sit apart from their spouses and/families all night! Have you seen this by the way?http://www.brides.com/story/head-table-wedding-reception-seating
    Hope it helps! Smiley smile
