Haircuts

For those in areas where hair salons and barbershops have been closed, how did you get your hair done? I'm not even taking about styling for the day of - my hair is literally a mess from not having it cut for the past five months (Toronto has been in lockdown since November).

I do have another 3.5 months so hopefully it doesn't resort to that.

If you're really desperate.. I've seen mobile barber services being advertised on Kijiji. Not sure if you are in Toronto/GTA but there's a guy doing haircuts in High Park and other parks around the city (both he and clients wear masks). As a lady I haven't needed this myself, and I realize these people are operating outside of the bylaws but just sharing that it's out there. Good luck man, it's a tough time for guys, my fiance hasn't had a haircut since November either.

Lol my second oldest, his hair grows out rather than down....I know how much he looks forward to a haircut. Hopefully it will not be much longer till haircuts are taken for granted again 😊

I wish I could just go with a bun. If I get any real length, I could do something with it but my hair would grow real fast in the first few months and after month three, it just kind of gives up and stalls in the "awkward stage" forever lol.

I have been buzzing my Fiancés hair for almost the last year. He likes the look (so do I) while it may not be perfect it would be good enough.

I haven't had a hair cut since the end of August 2019. I just didn't feel comfortable taking a chance of potentially getting my residents sick. DYI hair cutting is not something I think I could do. Luckily I can just stick my hair up in a bun and call it a day. Now that I've had part of my vaccine at least and residents have had all of theirs I think once things open up I'll be able to go again....I need a lot of help lol.

No I haven’t been!! I was actually in a competitive competition globally for Goldwell and it was postponed due to covid aswell. Totally sucks. I understand your frustration. But I just want to personally say thank you for not shaving your own head and waiting for a professional. Trust me we need people to be loyal to us. Our industry is going down hill.

Most of the GTA has been in lockdown since November so no haircuts allowed if we're still a Grey zone unfortunately.

I've been cutting my husband's hair for the most part. But he did go get it done a couple of weeks before our wedding because I'm absolutely not a professional and they do a much better job lol. I've actually somehow gotten worse at it and the last haircut I gave was not blended at all haha!

I'm sure the stay at home order will lift and you'll be able to go before your wedding in September!

I normally part my hair and when the stylist cuts it, she usually flips it in layers and cut it bit by bit. That level of technique is beyond any DIY I can attempt lol.

I guess I could buzz cut my hair as a very last resort but that look just doesn't represent me. I've never had hair that short. I think I almost would rather take crazy hair than a buzz cut.

Have you been doing any film work? I know a lot of personal care service providers in beauty (makeup, hair, etc) are working on film shoots as that's the only place they can work and generate income due to the unions' strict rules.

I normally cut my hair once a month. I can make do with two, maaaaaaaaaybe 2.5 if I groom it a certain way but it'll be very obvious that it's not my normal hair and that I need a haircut. Now that I'm on month five, it's getting out of hand. And unfortunately, my hair grows out rather than down so it's really crazy lol. For a stay at home order I can deal but man, if this hair gets immortalized in photos, that would suck lol.

I watched a YouTube video on how to cut hair. My hair turned out amazing. Lol I may never go to a salon again unless I want something different then long layered hair. My fiance's has crazy hair right now as well. He has really curly hair, so he'll just buzz it all off with a hair trimmer. He'll go really short with just a little bit of curl. DIYs for us.
