Hair stylist trouble

Jen, on March 6, 2018 at 15:49 Posted in Beauty 0 7

Thankfully I made the decision to cancel my previously booked hair stylist and go with somebody new.

So, today I decided after having my second hair trial with somebody different than last time, that I would cancel with the first person that I booked with initially. I'm so thankful that I decided to go in a different direction because when I called today the lady on the phone stated that I was never booked in for that day at all and that the girl I had my trial with has since quit and is working as a freelance on her own. She never once mentioned this to me even though I've had her on facebook and she could have easily contacted me at anytime. Even if she didn't cancel me and expected me to see her still, she would have only had herself and would have never been able to do hair for all of us in a timely manner. I should have known something was sketchy when she didn't have me pay a deposit or sign a contract!

Ladies, make sure you're on top of this stuff so this doesn't happen to you. I'm happy that I'm the type of bride who books everything in advance and checks in regularly. Could you imagine if I didn't check in or call and went there the day of? Oh boy.. I would have been sooo angry! And the funny thing is my wedding planner suggested her to me.

Has anybody else had a problem like this? What did you do to resolve it?

I'm a little more weary about some of my other vendors now, even though we've had great contact and met on numerous occasions, but I'm worried they won't show up the day of! I'm sure it'll be fine, but I just have bad vibes now. Only a few weeks to go for my wedding, so I know everything will turn out.

I was out $200 dollars. At first, I was furious, and I could pursue legal action if I wanted to as we both had signed a contract, but I can't be bothered.

My new make-up artist was appalled and asked her name. She put out on her make-up artist Facebook page about this lady, so others were aware, but no one seemed to know her name. Really, it sounds like I got scammed, which I'm upset about, but I think my new artist was more upset than I was!

    That sounds awful!

I've been really fortunate that everyone I've worked with has been great so far. Hopefully it keeps going that way as I'm in my final months now.

Oh my goodness, I would have hunted the girl down! lol But that's just spazzy ol' me! How much did you end up losing out on?! I would have blasted her name all over social media to ensure nobody books with her again.

I did! I had a make-up artist that I found through a wedding Facebook group. We met in person and discussed what I needed and when I could do trials (I'm an out of town bride so they had to be specific dates). We agreed, signed the contract and I gave my deposit. Everything seemed great until I emailed to confirm the make-up trial. She never answered me back, and I also tried contacting her through Facebook again to no avail. I had no phone number for her (silly on my part for not grabbing it).

I ended up choosing a new make-up artist, and two days before my trial she emailed me back saying "my email kicked me out and didn't have access until now", I commented that she was very unprofessional to not try and find me sooner, and that being out-of-town there was no way any bride would wait two months to hear back from a vendor after trying to contact. I politely asked for my deposit back and said I went with someone else. She never did give me the deposit and I haven't heard from her since.

Luckily, I have an amazing makeup artist now and she gave me a discount for my troubles (which was totally unnecessary, but very sweet). My one and only nightmare so far!

I don't even want to imagine what could have happened. I would have been so angry. It just boggles my mind that my own wedding planner suggested her to me and then this happened.

I'm happy you have a friend that can help you out in that department. Makes things so much easier!

Oh jeez!! Thank God you actually booked somewhere else. Imagine what could have been??!!! This is why I'm so grateful that I'm in the industry (I'm an esthetician). My good friend and colleague is doing my hair and those in my bridal party as a gift. All our make up is going to be done by another friend (pro make up artist) who normally charges $150 to do make up per person! I know I can count on these ladies like no tomorrow.
