Hair or make up - which comes first?

Technically It should be makeup and then a hairdo because a hairdo also depends on what kind of makeup has been done on your face. On the other hand, it totally depends on your salon person what they will choose first.

Coming from a licensed stylist point of view , makeup first my dear , we can work around it and if your hair is perfect trying to blend your makeup to perfection without disturbing your hair can be a challenge 💜

I personally think hair should come after makeup, so it can be pulled back and out of the way. However, this would really depend on if you are going into a salon to do your hair or having someone come to your home and do your hair and your hair/scalp type. I will be washing my hair 1-2 days before as my hair does not get oily, this way I am prepped, and the day of, the focus will be on styling my hair.

Oh those are both great points! Excuse the dumb question….do you arrive with *wet* hair or just freshly washed?

Recently married and hair was first (typically you arrive with washed hair)! Which I loved because a) the heat from the curling wand would have melted makeup, b) it looks great in getting ready photos that way!

But I'd probably want hair first than make up. I feel like I'd want my make up applied as close to start time as possible in case I cry a bunch prior and don't ruin it haha

I'm getting my makeup done first. That's how I normally do my hair/makeup if I am doing it myself, so that's how I booked it. Having 2nd thoughts after reading all these comments though....

My aunt who is doing my hair who also works for Alberta Film and Television as a hairstylist suggested that I get my hair done first

I'm getting my hair done and then makeup so I don't sweat it off when they curl it. Also remember to wear a button up shirt, that way you don't ruin your hair or makeup when you take your shirt off. Most brides forget this tip.

They don't wash your hair if you're not at a salon. But it depends on what you're doing. Typically hair goes first but some people have hair that's difficult to maintain a certain shape/style so make up would go first. A lot of artists can work either way and will alternate between hair/makeup and makeup/hair with different girls to save time.
