Hair artists: Mobile or Salon?

Miav, on July 24, 2019 at 18:04 Posted in Beauty 0 6
Hi! Some hair artists that I've been contacting don't do mobile services. Their salon is about 30 minutes from the venue (where I will be doing makeup). So it will be hair first on the day of, then travel to venue for makeup and the rest (dress, etc) Any advice if that is fine or do you prefer mobile hair and makeup artists? thanks!

PS This salon was recommended by our venue and is cheaper compared to other hair artists on my list

I definitely did mobile for both hair and make-up! Especially if one is mobile and will be providing their services at the venue. Another thing you could do is ask the hair salon if it'd be alright to have your MUA there as well - I'd rather have both in the same location for a few reasons:

    - if there's only one of each artist, the hair artist can work on one head while the MUA works on another.

    - hair AND make-up can take from 45 minutes to an hour each! If you're able to do each at the same time, it saves you from having to be up earlier.

    - generally less stress if both are in the same spot - you don't have to rush at the hair salon to get to the venue/MUA on time or leave the salon one at a time so that the MUA can start working on everyone.

Thanks a lot! I totally agree that it will be more relaxing for everyone if we don't have to travel for hair

I personally rather not have to travel and then this way if a mobile comes- they can work on people who have their hair completed and people aren't waiting around. If your hair lady is able to geet it all done and then you have enough time to travel and everyone get makeup done and still relax then why not go for it. Its honestly personal preference. Its more relaxing day of though if people come to you

For makeup my Sister is pretty good at eye makeup and I won't need false eyelashes or anything as mine are long and dark as is - so we will be doing our own. As for hair, one of my Bam's is a part time hair stylist so she will be doing our hair. If I didn't have her I would probably pay someone though as I can't picture me going out if my way (min. 45 minute drive there and again 45 back...) All in all I would see if you could talk to somebody and offer a somewhat larger than normal tip but if you can find room in your day-of schedule for the trip then I don't see it being a problem.
I will already be at my venue the night before so it would be super inconvenient for me.

My hair stylist is either or, they have a small space for trials. However, I ordered her mobile services. It’s just easier for me. I don’t think she charges anything for travelling as long as you aren’t outside the GTA/Toronto.
