Hair & Makeup Trial

Kate, on November 15, 2021 at 19:03 Posted in Beauty 1 12
Hi all!
How far in advance/close to are you planning on doing your hair and makeup trials?
I was looking to ideally plan it for a time when I have my wedding dress in hand so I can see the whole look together but not sure when I will have it.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I am hoping to book mine about 6-8 weeks before the wedding- if you don't like the final product or don't mesh well with the MUA you still have time to find someone else...

Mine is booked for about 2 weeks before the wedding date as well. I wasn't prepared to book it(was hoping to book it for when I had something to do so I can go out with my hair and makeup did!) however with the amount of weddings happening next year my H/MUA team wanted to book it straight away so I was sure to get a trial!

Mine depended on the MUA's and my own availability - hard sometimes when you account for travel to/from the studio and work schedules! I'm doing mine July 10th for the wedding August 6th. It happens to be the same day as the bridal shower. Planning to do hair trial the same day.

Mine did it two weeks before the wedding date. That was their preferences as they told me they like to book their trials close to the wedding date.

I'm doing my trial in late May for my mid July wedding. I'm in the process of transitioning my hair color so I want it to be as close to the color it will be, particularly for the makeup trial. Plus skin color could change as warmer weather comes along too so I think it's best done closer to the wedding date.

My artist is booking so fast! so I am doing a trial (included in the cost of hair/makeup) in december for my sept wedding. But they are going to come back out in May for my bridal shower for another trial (which I am paying extra for).
But I want ti make sure I like their work before I give them a deposit & make the commitment. With vendors booking super fast, this is what I decided to do.

Hey Kate. I will be doing my makeup trail about 4 months before my wedding. For my hair, my mother will be doing this for me and we have already started trying out styles. I would say, if its better for you to wait until you have your dress, than do that! You need to do what is best for you at the end of the day.

I'm using my dad's best friend's daughter for my makeup and hair so with that in mind, I'm having her do a trial run with me sooner rather than later, mainly because she has to do 6 other girls so we want to make sure we have enough time. I'm not getting married until next October and I don't have my dress yet but she's asking to do a couple of runs to make sure timing is right and she's able to capture the look I'm going for. I do think it is a great idea to wait until you have the dress so you can see your wedding day look, but it all depends on how you feel as well Smiley smile

My hairdresser wants to start doing trials about 4-5 months before the wedding as she doesn't do a lot of wedding hair. So we are doing our first trial 4-5 months before. The 2nd trial will be 2 months before and that's also when I will be doing my makeup trial

For my makeup I'm only having the trail about 4-5 days before hand only because we're getting married in a different province and I'm not able to get out there sooner. For my hair, since my aunt is doing it, I'll be able to test out a few styles months in advance

I did mine before my first alterations appointment - about 6 weeks out from the wedding. We had to postpone in the end so I went for another trial as if it's too far in advance, they don't remember what exactly they did (even with pictures). I wouldn't go too early but totally agree it's worth going when you'll be putting on your dress!
