Guest lists

Stephanie, on March 27, 2017 at 10:07 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 5

Hey girls!

My fiance and I are still in the early planning stages - we have a contract from a venue which we will probably sign and we are trying to finalize some numbers in terms of the guest list. The problem is we have huge families and we know many of them won't be able to attend simply because they would have to travel and some others typically just don't come to weddings. My question is, is it customary to send out 2 rounds of invitations - 1st round would be for all family and close friends that you know you should invite (but lets say a quarter of them will decline) and then send out a second round as people decline?

Thoughts?

I was in the same boat. But sent them all out at the same time but unfortunately most of my family doesn't want to travel here and my friends here are going away! So way less people than anticipated

We are in the same boat... We decided to send out the invites all at the same time and hope that half can't make it.

I think it is actually quite common to do that. A lot of brides make a list a and a list b for when then happens.

People usually send out two rounds if their guests decline and they have a minimum quantity needed for the reception and they want to fill the seats as needed. Then yes, they do two rounds.
If you have no minimum quantity then you can send your invites all at once.
