Guest list planning with covid 2021 wedding

Eva, on October 11, 2020 at 23:42 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 4
Hello all! Just wanted to see how everyone who has a wedding in 2021 is planning their guest list. We are going off of the restrictions that are in effect now, but are having a really hard time with cutting our list as well as communication with vendors. Ex) we are telling the caterer we are inviting 100...BUT if covid lets up we will have 200. Also, save the dates? We are planning to send to the 100 that we are trying to narrow down to... BUT if covid allows more guests should we send invitations to the remaining people we can add to our list? So hard. How is everyone else planning??

I can relate - right now we are only sending save the dates/invitations to only 50 people. We prioritized immediate family and then wedding party. My fiancé and I then just ranked other family members and friends that we want to be part of our wedding Smiley xd . We purposely chose a venue that is big enough so if restrictions do ease up next year, we will able to invite more people (our guest list was up to 90 max). If restrictions do ease up next year, we are planning to send out invitations 3 months prior to our date. If not, then what could we do Smiley atonished

A primary list and B back up list can be done as to inviting more guests if things clear and venues do increase the guest numbers.

Its a difficult decision to cut down the list though its the only choice to make at this time given the situation of covid. Just a matter of time before things get better out there and planning can get better for everyone. I hope everything works out for you.

Usually speaking, places go based of “minimum” nrs and you can always add to it. I’d send out save th dates but maybe be clear about it by saying smth like “as long as allowed” (maybe use better wording of course lol

I know what you’re feeling! Anytime I hired a vendor I told them the number we could be having and if the restrictions are still around it would still be at 50. All vendors should only be charging the amount you allowed by the government.

Break down your guest list to “A” list and “B” list. “A” list will get the save the date and invitation.
Although “B” list would only get the invite if the restrictions eases up 3-2 months before your wedding. So you will have time to send out invites and get RSVP’s back.
I wouldn’t tell your caterers your final numbers until the deadline they give you. Hope this helps!
