That's the worst. I know my mother is super negative so she didn't join me on the times I went dress shopping. Plus I told her the date 2 months in advance almost and she said "I don't book time off" so I said ok....I think I'll find my dress that day and I did so she missed the opportunity to experience that for the 1st time

LOL I hear you. My parents hate my dress. In fact they hated all 70 I tried on. They don't even like my venue or what I am serving they actually have not said anything positive so I try to not let it bother me but sometimes it hard when it is constant. I came to realize this is my wedding and my day and I am paying for it. My partner is super supportive to which is nice. Sometimes you try to hart to please everyone and you need to remember its your day. Please don't worry what others say do what you want you will look beautiful.

Just saw picture after I posted ...I Love it!

I was in Mexico many years ago and never thought of anything bold but this bride had a red wedding dress and it was absolutely stunning.

I asked the bride if I could take a picture of her as I liked it that much.

You will be beautiful in this dress. I would not tell anyone this is your dress. I would tell them this is your colours and they can assume its the bridesmaids.

This way you get the WOW factor from everyone.

Good luck I cannot even get my wedding party -the men - to wear pants they want to wear shorts as it will be boiling. They also do not want to wear ties or closed shoes for same reason.

One would think this is YOUR day and for once if guests could comply with your request - just once - for your day it would be nice.

I have recently learned there is always that one or two who do not care about you or your wishes -sadly.

So you can request it for sure as its your day but in reality guests will do what they want to do...in my opinion based on all the crap I've been through thus far.

I would however send a request to everyone that please I am requesting that nobody wear red or Burgundy to my wedding as this will be my colours. You do not have to mention this will be your dress to surprise the groom if this is your idea to give him element of surprise but this way guests will know this is what you would like and hopefully they will agree to your request

We sent everyone a polite request to avoid wearing anything in the colors of the wedding. No one was offended and it worked out perfectly.

Are you keeping the color a surprise, or have you been telling people? If the color is not a surprise then I'd definitely tell your guests and most people won't wear a red dress then When guests ask what they should wear to your wedding I'd throw in a "I'll actually be wearing red dress, so I'd avoid reds and maroons if I were you!" (in addition to giving them tips about the formality and what to wear)

Wow! That dress is gorgeous!! I think you can totally ask your guests to follow the traditional rule. I don't think anyone in red could even compare but I understand you wanting to really stand out.

I've never thought about this! Good question. I personally think that if you explained it this way to your guests, they shouldn't have an issue with it. ☺ I don't see anything wrong with it since you're basically just swapping the colors lol. Can't wait to see pics of the dress! 😍
