Group Rate Bookings

Hi Everyone!

My fiance and I are members at a resort, this is the resort we want to get married at however when I called them for group rates they want me to use my membership and seem confused as to what I'm actually trying to achieve. Would I be better off using sunwing or transat or a travel agent to do the group booking part? I'm confused as to why they are confused LOL

Yes, before I send out info to anybody I need to know if the resort will do better. The travel agent came back with a quote and while it's NOT terrible for the season. I'd prefer to see if the resort will directly do something better. This part of everything is stressful LOL

Did you tell them its for a wedding? normally its cheaper if you contact the hotel directly and book things through there. my cousin paid MORE for a the trip to DR for her wedding than we did a if we had all booked on our own. they also werent even able to accommodate us all near each other so there was ZERO point in booking through a travel agent

I spoke with our private concierge. I've contacted a travel agent who will see where she can get this week. Then I'll go back to the concierge and discuss. I really just want the best for our guests.

As a member at your resort, have they talked to you about what your membership has to do with the group bookings, I would ask to know why they need that information by the manager/supervisor.
It seems unusual to hear these things when planning with places you are affiliated along the lines. If needed to, book with another travel agent to avoid these issues and feel eased to get the results your aiming towards.

Did you phone your membership contact or the main resort office? I know where we go there is a member's phone number for reservations and then the resort's main reservation number. If that doesn't work I would ask to speak with a supervisor. Could it be a language barrier? A supervisor would presumably be more informed about this process.
