I would go white if you are able to change it. Not only does it up the formality, off-white shirts for men don't look good imo.

I never thought of this. My dress is ivory with a blush underlay. Currently we have the rentals set as grey suits with ivory shirt. Now I am second guessing this lol.

My dress is champagne and his shirt is white. I think an off white colored shirt might just read as grungy.


If you're really worried you could do a suit with a colored shirt instead of white. Black on black is very trendy right now.

If he's wearing a tuxedo, he should ONLY wear a white tuxedo shirt. Any other color throws the tuxedo ensemble off and in my opinion, looks silly. Do not wear a regular shirt with a tuxedo or else the look will feel incomplete (it needs the shirt studs or else it looks like a penguin).

If you want him to wear an ivory/off-white shirt, I suggest he wears a suit instead. A dark charcoal suit would be great with it.

Is your dress short or long? If it's not floor length, then him in a tuxedo may feel overdoing it and I would suggest a suit instead. If your dress is floor length, then a tuxedo would work. It doesn't matter if your dress is off-white, a proper tuxedo ensemble will match anything that's floor length.
