Gospel choir to perform one song- can it be done?

Hey ladies,

My fiancé and I are getting married in Toronto this June and I want to plan a special surprise for him. Our song is lean on my by bill withers- when it is time for our first dance, I want to surprise him with it being performed by a small gospel choir group instead of just a track.

is this even a thing? Has anyone ever hired entertainment for just a few songs?

    It’s worth looking into! Some musicians have a minimum amount of time but as long as they get paid for that minimum, I’m sure they wouldn’t object to one song. I’ve never been to a wedding where only one song was performed but I think that’s because people had to hire them for a length of time so used them for that time.

    I think for sure it is possible if you know where to go to find one! That part I have no idea how to go about... but if you can't find one at a church, then my next suggestion is to go to a middle school or high school choir and ask if they would do this? Given the date of your wedding, it would be close to exam time though...
