#Givethanks: How do you express Thankfulness & Gratitude During the Planning Process.

Leah, on March 11, 2019 at 20:18 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 6

It's all too easy to embrace stress, complaining, and anxiety in the months/days ahead of your wedding. Sometimes it even feels like it's what guests, friends, family and coworkers expect of you.

In an effort to combat the "norm", the naysayers, and be more mindful in my last days of planning, I'm asking you to share how you express gratitude in the face of your wedding stress.
Other than the fact that YOU'RE GETTING MARRIED(!), what aspect(s) of the wedding planning process are you most grateful and thankful for?
Me? I'm thankful for my support system (including my FH), my playfulness, and my pragmatism. I'm confident that mere weeks from now I'll be pleased as punch at how we chose to celebrate our union, and am grateful for the hope and possibilities that this new chapter of life will bring.
(And of course I'm thankful for this WeddingWire community for being a super safe space to research and explore this sometimes overwhelming world of wedding planning Smiley shame )

I'm the oldest so I think my family had to deal with me "growing up so fast" lol

I'm grateful that the wedding planning has provided an opportunity to spend more quality time with my family. It's been fun planning together and generally being more open with each other Smiley smile

    Yay you! Well done!
I’m the youngest in my family so I can identify with having to “prove your adulthood” certain family members.

This is such a great idea!!

I'm thankful that I'm more able to be assertive around my parents! I used to be more passive when talking to them but with the wedding planning, I've had to voice my opinions about their opinions and shut things down that aren't what my FH and I want at our wedding. Even though I've been out of the house for nearly 6 years now, I feel like I'm finally grown up in their eyes and we have a more balanced relationship.

I'm also thankful how some skills at my job and wedding planning are interchangeable and wedding planning has made me more efficient at my job lol.

And of course, I'm thankful for my FH and I can't wait to marry him in 7 months!

Right. It’s a great opportunity to feel assured that you’ve made a good choice about who to team up with for the rest of your life. My mother had a super small wedding and bucked all of the traditional norms, throughout the process, I’ve also learned that I’m more like her than I thought.💜

I love this so much. So right - it's much easier to focus on the negative, but soooo much healthier to appreciate the positive.

I think the part of the planning process that I'm most grateful for is becoming even closer with my FH, being constantly impressed by my own ability to keep a straight face when it comes to encountering negative feedback from family members, and for my mom, for always reminding me of what matters most in life (spoiler: it's not centerpieces) Smiley heart
