Gifts for out of town guests

Sar, on March 11, 2019 at 21:45 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 8
Is anyone mailing gifts or tourist packages to guests coming from out of town? I need ideas. We are having lots of guests traveling to Canada from Texas.

Every wedding being family has started a welcome bag that has been provided with snacks, alkaselzer, water and wedding information of event timings and locations. Other information included was restaurants, shopping and bars near by for night life.

That is something you can do for your Out of Town guests plus a texas souvenir to remember where your wedding took place.

All of my guests are out of town, so I think giving them any extra gifts would be a little expensive. I am mailing them an info card with my wedding invites. I have a TON of information for my guests on my wedding website. I am also having a welcome BBQ at my venue for the day of arrival for all of my guests.

I don't have any OOT guests (unless you count the ones travelling 5 hours), so I won't be doing anything. BUT IF I DID!!! - I would just give them ideas of what to do while they are here and that can be done on a piece of paper in their invitation. Smiley smile Maybe see about that hangover kit for their hotel rooms like Valérie suggested!

Since over 75% of my guests are "out-of-town" I'm not doing out of town guests. Most are within driving distance/been to London before/also live in Ontario somewhere so I feel like favours are good enough. If I was doing a destination wedding (somewhere where people had to fly/take extra vacation time) I would definitely have a welcome basket for them.

I think having some Canadian souvenirs for your Texan guests would be a nice gesture!

I am not sure about mailing them, but you could always have a welcome bag for the out of town guests. Add in some Canadian favourites, maple candy, Canadian beer, etc.

My mom insists on getting gifts for our out of town guests. A few from the states (Texas as well!) and some from Vancouver, Saskatchewan and plenty from overseas in Taiwan and Hong Kong.. we’ll get whatever my mom thinks is appropriate... and also take them out for lunches / dinners and tourist stuff when they’re in Toronto...

We're not gifting any our of OOT guests with anything either, since we're already paying for their meal and transportation haha.

That being said, depending on your budget, you could either :

    1) send them a quick email with a list of links to neighbouring attractions or events happening in Calgary around the time of the wedding. Sending that early would help your guest plan their stay ahead of time!

    2) Print a list of places to see or go, while they are in town, and attach it to a "hangover kit" to put in their room. You could include a map of the city too and a postcard.

Ehhhh I’m not gifting our OOT guests anything. It’s a nice gesture tho, but I think it’s a little unnecessary.
