Garter Toss? Keep or Cancel?

Lynnie, on September 16, 2019 at 09:50 Posted in Wedding reception 0 31

I have to confess that I've never actually seen a garter toss in person! Smiley surprise But apparently 37% of grooms still participate in this reception tradition! Will this toss tradition make the cut for your wedding?

Do you want to keep or cancel this toss tradition?

WORST TRADITION. I cannot think of anything more uncomfortable than sitting in front of my entire family (and his!!) while he goes up my skirt? NO THANK YOU.

I say Cancel, no way I want everyone looking up my dress. So we still have to discuss.

Cancel, it's pointless. FH hates that kind of attention on him too

Cancel! It's so medieval, having my new husband throw my underwear into the crowd to celebrate. No thanks. (it comes from a time when the newlyweds would throw clothes to prove a marriage had been consumated, and sometimes the guests helped undress the bride *shudder*)

Cancel. My FH was against it to begin with and then the DJ explained how he would do it and now FH is wayyyy more against it.

Definitely cancel. Again, we don't have many single friends plus I find the whole thing super uncomfortable. Our parents would be watching - urgh.

Ab-so-f*n-lutely cancel! No one's goin' up my skirt except my FH, and even then, not in front of 100 people!! I'm no prude, but c'mon, this one's ridiculous.

CANCEL. My FH and I both agreed this is nothing but awkward for everyone involved- bride, groom, guest. There are also not a lot of single guys at the party.

Oh my, the last thing I wanted was to have everyone look at my hubby go up my skirt. Luckily, my husband was on board with nixing it.

Keep, but I don't want my FH doing the whole "going up my dress to remove it" in front of everyone thing. I'll just slip it off and he can fling/throw it.

Cancelling. Not enough single guys again. I also don't think my FH would want to go up my dress in front of all our family

Canceling. I spoke to my FH and told him that I felt uncomfortable with it. And there's not going to be many single people there.

Cancel! Again, only a few single guys and that included an uncle who lost his wife earlier in the year. Plus I'm just not a fan of the garter toss anyway.
