Buttercream! It tastes better (unless you have marshmallow fondant...yum). We are thinking something like below, so getting the super smooth fondant isn't high on the list anyway

Buttercream. We are doing a cupcake tower. Plus neither of our families eat fondant. Although I do think it does look nicer and you can do more decoratively with it.

We're doing buttercream because it's so delicious, but fondant undoubtedly is very versatile and aesthetically a better choice in terms of designs. The taste of fondant though... ahh, I don't know. Way too sugary.

Buttercream - you can do more with fondant, but I'm not a fan of the taste. As they saying goes, I want to have my cake and eat it too!

We both prefer buttercream, but we had a very specific design in mind for our cake that can't really be done with buttercream so we had to go with fondant.

Buttercream all the way! Of course neither for my wedding - but you can't fix a tear in fondant but you can smooth over buttercream! It tastes better and is more practical.
