Flowers/decor? Need help!

Laura, on November 26, 2020 at 11:33 Posted in Plan a wedding 2 14

Hey brides!

Does anyone know exactly how much is reasonable to be spending on flowers for your venue? The quotes I'm getting seem insane. Any help would be appreciated! Getting married in September of 2021 (hopefully). Recommendations also welcomed!

Flowers can be costly depending on which florist you choose to fit in your budget and what your arrangements size and variation you put together. Costco is good for getting the choices you want though it would have to be put together by you.

On the alternative side, renting flowers and centerpieces are less expensive depending on how you look at the set up per table and flowers to have as your arrangements. The best solution to this aspect is that you return it back to the company to avoid the storage space at home. A thought to consider as I one of many did this idea and spend around $200.

Shopping for flowers can be a bit of a task especially when it comes to some of the prices out there. I had a challenging time but the most important thing to consider is finding a florist who is willing to work with your budget and also your budget.

As a recommendation I hired Sima's Flower Design. She has been remarkable and is understanding. Excellent service, great communication and also very prompt and she came highly recommended by my photographer.

    Hope this helps.

GTA prices can be absolutely crazy. Sometimes it’s worth considering a vendor outside the area for the savings. We had one based in flamborough who did 2 bridal bouquets, 2 MOH bouquets, 2 bouts and Italian ruscus garlands for 2 mantelpieces and 6 tables for $850. We specifically picked in season flowers and cheaper greenery too to stay within budget.

I would go to something borrowed! It’s online and even being in Canada the prices are SO good. You rent the flowers then send them back

It would really depend on how big your venue is, what kind of flowers you are wanting as well as how many flowers you want for your big day.

For 3 bouquets (one is a throw away), 5 corsages, 6 boutonnieres and 10 centerpieces, my fiance and I have paid just under $1000

Oh wow that seems really, really high. I would think half of that quote would be on the higher end of things but it’s possible the display for the head table is what’s increasing it a lot? Maybe one of the other Toronto people can give a reasonable recommendation.

What kind of unique display are you thinking for the head table? Here's what I was quoted for different specific items, and photos of ideas:

    - large bridal bouquet $180
    - bridesmaid bouquets $70 pp

    - boutonnières $18 pp

    - orchid corsages $35 pp (you can get much cheaper ones depending on the flower but orchids had special significance to my mom)

    - full floral arch on wood frame $1800

    - aisle floral arrangements at each row (will be reused on head table so I’d get more out of them than floral petals) $50 each

    - head table backdrop - super long since I want the groomsmen and bridesmaids on our sides instead of another table and will be about 30-40 ft, includes draping and construction of the frame - $5000

    - head table florals are same as aisle arrangements

    - tall centrepieces that guests take home including the vase - $150 each

-low centrepieces that guests can take home including base - $130 each

    - plus add candles, charger plates, upgraded linens and chairs...

    - delivery, setup, and takedown at 2 am $1200

I am looking for just bouquets and centrepieces (the centrepieces for 20 tables) and 6 bridesmaid bouquets as well as bridal bouquet. Also I wanted a more unique flower display for the head table. The quotes I'm getting are between 6.5K and 9K.

Yeah, without knowing how much is "insane" and what it entails, it's hard to help you. I was quoted in the $2-4K range that included centerpieces, head table, sign in table, ceremony flowers, and everything for us as the couple, the bridal party, and our families.

This can really range depending on how big your venue is, the types of flowers, and what you want. For example do you just want bouquets and centrepieces, and if so how many, or do you want something large like an arch or flower wall, etc. If you can let us know what you’re looking for it’ll be easier for people to give you an idea of price ranges Smiley smile
