Flower...man?

Candace, on February 8, 2018 at 16:40 Posted in Wedding ceremony 0 19

So kind of funny situation that may get interesting..

My fiance asked two friends in his high school friend group to be in his wedding party (one is best man and the other a groomsmen) as a joke one of his other friends asked if he can be the flower girl. Jokingly we said yes.

However.. now his friend seems WAAY too excited about being "flowergirl" to be joking anymore?

IF he ends up being serious is there any way to have him be part of the ceremony without it being too weird? lol

UPDATE: we are going to have a flower man, we talked him into wearing a tux instead of a dress and since there is an extra charge to throw flower petals he is going to handout individual flowers to people. He is super excited and we just couldn't pass up the opportunity.

Thank you everyone for showing that this is a twist that people will probably laugh at.

If you aren't opposed to him being your flower man I think it could be really fun and funny! It would add a little twist to things and would really get people to pay attention. If you don't think it would be a good reflection of the relationship you guys have with this person or how you want your wedding to be then maybe just talk to him and see if he is ok with another role.

He can be an usher. Hand people a program (if you're having them) and show people to empty seats.

It really depends on what you guys want and how serious you want the ceremony. I went to a destination wedding last year where one of the bridesmaids had dropped out after her dress was bought, so one of the brides’ brothers friend, who was basically like a brother to the bride, offered to be a bridesmaid and even wore the dress down the aisle. Now of course that’s not for everyone, but this couple was so laid back and fun, and it was a huge hit!

Maybe he could carefully find out IF he's actually serious?
And yea just try to tell him you don't want a flower girl. It's also a lotttt of extra stuff of cleaning up all the little flower petals etc :/ you could always give something like that to blame on not wanting it :')? If he's like oh but I'll clean it! Just tell him you'd rather have him at the party with you guys

If you're worried he will make it too silly or goofy then maybe talk to him about playing a more serious role, and clearly he has a good sense of humour then maybe have him as ring bearer but also stand as a groomsmen? Or get one of your girlfriend's to walk the aisle with him as "honourary" wedding party as ring bearer and flower girl .

If your too worried about being blunt maybe find a flower girl and inform him that he will be her escorte and then he can still be apart of the movie.

Honestly, just tell him you thought he was joking and unfortunately don't need/want him as a "flower girl"

If you don't want to be this blunt, perhaps a ring bearer?
