Flower Girl suit Dilemna

Tara, on August 27, 2019 at 15:45 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 17
My lovely niece (7 years old) will be our flower girl and we presented her with her formal invitation last night (she’s visiting our house for a few days while her mom is working.

I asked her what she wanted to wear and she said no dresses (she’s anti dress I think because her mom, my sister, LOVES to dress her in one). I asked if pants and a “flowing top” was ok and she kind of sneered at that too. I straight up asked her if she wanted to wear a suit and pants and her eyes lit up. I knew I had struck gold with this idea.

The place we are renting suits from does kids sizes, however ONLY in black or grey. Normally the flower girl wears the same colours (ish) as the bridesmaids/bride so this is a little different.

Our bridesmaids are in a burgundy type colour, our groomsmen in a dark grey. Our fathers of will be wearing a lighter grey, our ring bearer (adult) in a light grey as well. (Different pocket squares, vest and tie combinations for each of these “outfits”).

Do you vote grey, black, or find a white one? Photos are a black tux, VERY light grey (maybe unavailable), and my niece in question, FH, and younger niece.

I think the grey looks great!! Add a burgundy tie or vest and she's ready to go. She is going to own that aisle!

    I love this!!

I like the grey suit and either adding burgundy accents or matching her colours with the ring bearer, as others suggested. Would love to see the pictures after you have decided.

I think the grey suit will look great. Maybe you can try to find accessories in burgundy. Somehow tie it in with something in her hair or something.

First of all, I loved how you are embracing the suit for your flower girl - take that gender norms!!

I would go with the light grey to match the ring bearer, or see if you can find a white suit.

I would say to try looking for a white one elsewhere or even a burgundy one if you can find - but if there is a dramatic price difference or you can't find any then the light grey would be the way to go IMO!

Super cute that she wants a pant suit! I think picking a complimenting colour would be easier than matching the bridesmaids. Especially since different stores/ designers will have their burgundy be different.
The grey would look very nice with burgundy.

My flower girl is in a totally independent colour. I don't think it's the end of the world. As long as it doesn't clash.

Whatever colour makes her eyes light up the way they did when you suggested a suit. She has a special role in the ceremony and, in my opinion, it’s ok if she’s in a different colour.

This is absolutely adorable! I love the grey as well and it would look awesome with the accents matching the bridesmaids.

In the “duties” listed, she has to come to our party, have fun, smile, and be herself. It’s important to me to embrace her as she is (she got her hair trimmed REALLY short because she refuses to let my sister brush it, and got teased about it. She adamantly asserts that she is NOT a boy, but likes to wear pants. I’m ok with that and whatever else she wants).

I like the idea of matching to the ring bearer (since he would escort her if she felt scared, he’s my very best friend and is already wearing lighter colours like pink and light grey which would be fine for her complexion and size as well)

First of all, I love that you are letting her wear what she feels comfortable in!

I'd tend to see if you could match the color with the ring bearer's suit just to keep it consistent, but white might be cute as well, with match accessories to the bridesmaids?
