Flower girl dresses

Meghan, on September 25, 2019 at 16:34 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 9

I need opinions!

Flower girl dresses: do they match the bride or bridesmaids or do their own thing?

I'm letting my bridesmaids choose their own dress, all in different shades of dusty rose and dusk purples, but I haven't decided what I want for my flower girl. There's only one, so that makes it easier.

Do I want her to match me?

I didn't have a flower girl, but when my daughter was a flower girl the bride just told me to buy an ivory dress of my choice. I ended up torn between 2 dresses so I asked the bride to choose one.
Her rationale for going with ivory was it was harder to find a style in a colour that was complementary as there were too many variables. Ivory just made things easier.

She can match you if you want but that's totally your choice. Often they look like little brides but I find they're wearing colour at more and more weddings. My two are going to wear a lilac shade so they kind of match the eggplant dresses my bridesmaids are wearing but still get to look little and different. So you can match her to your bridal party or just have her wear a different colour, it's totally up to you. 😊

Flower girls can match the bride, bridesmaids or do their own thing - I personally like the own thing look the most.

I was a flower girl to my Aunt and Uncle. This is the only photo I could find but my dress was white (to match the bride) but had embroidered coloured flowers (blue, green, hot pink, orange, yellow) to make it unique. Flower girl dresses 1

For our wedding, the bridesmaids are in turquoise and purple, and the flower girl is wearing a tutu dress that complements the bridesmaids.

Is there an option to incorporate dusty rose/dusk purple into your flower girl's dress? Or have her in a white/ivory dress to match you, but add a sash, or have her in a completely different, but complimentary colour (i.e. darker purple or blush pink)

I’m letting my flower girls pick their dress. They have the colours to go buy, but my flowers girls are in Texas, California and Toronto, so it would be a headache to find matching dresses that I like. Also they’re all different ages. 1 yr to 6 yrs. I just tried to make it easy on myself haha

Usually they match the bride, but it’s your wedding you can do whatever you would like!
I have seen people do the same style dress as the bride and then have a coloured sash to match the bridesmaids.
My flower girl is wearing an ivory dress. She tried on a few and picked the one she liked best!

We chose a completely separate colour colour the flower girl. She is in teal, bridesmaids and groomsmen are in pewter, I'm in ivory. But the groomsmen do have accessories in the same color so it does tie in.

I think most flowers girl dresses are white. Doesn't have to be like the brides dress. If your dress is ivory I'd look for ivory.

It really is whatever you want - when I was a flower girl I wore a white dress to match the bride, I've been to weddings where the flower girl(s) wear white but with a ribbon/belt/sash the colour of the bridesmaids, and I know there are brides & grooms on here that have had them match the bridesmaids (although that one is usually only if they are junior bridesmaids I think).

I would say to go with a white dress because they are probably easier to come by and look super cute Smiley smile Also helps since all your BM's will be wearing different colours.
