Flower Costs!

Emily, on February 28, 2018 at 14:50 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 8

Does anyone have an idea of what the average flower costs are to a wedding? I do love flowers, but will have a hard time spending the money on them knowing that they are going to die right away! I do want a beautiful bouquet, but am looking to cut costs with them for decor!

I have a florist and it is costing me 580 just for my bouquet and toss bouquet as well as my maid of honour and a bridesmaid. I have two Mom corsages and then I have 6 boutonnière. I think it depends on what type of flowers you want as well for myself I’m getting married outside in summer so I new I didn’t need a lot of flowers. It was cheaper for me to have someone do my bouquet then to do it fake flowers.

We are only getting real flowers for bouquets and boutonnieres and corsages and it will be approx $500 (1 bridal bouquet, 4 bridesmaids bouquets, flower girl bouquet, 7 boutonnières and 2 pin on corsages) all the other flowers will be silk

Wow, thank you so much for the Costco idea! I always pick up flowers for others there but never thought of doing a wedding! What a great idea!

I've heard of a place in Montreal that does false flower arrangements that look so real! I'm not sure if there's anything like that near you or how much it costs, but at least you wouldn't have to throw away the flowers after!

I'm doing everything myself with silk flowers. I'm thinking I can hear things apart afterward and reuse the flowers in different arrangements.
At the moment I've probably spent $500 but i think im going to need to buy another $ 200 worth (though I'm going to try really hard not to)
For reference I have my bouquet (Which is pretty huge) my MOH (which is smaller than mine but still abnormally large) about 5 boutonnieres, 2 corsages. 4 centerpieces, and about 4 floral displays (used on gathered lace)
So I'm getting away pretty easy, but I'm thinking the backdrop that his mother is making is going to require at least an extra 200 in flowers/greenery

    Hi Emily,

I can't say that I saved costs on my flowers because we're getting married in a greenhouse where their florist has to supply the flowers (can't have any outside sources coming in to their ecosystem understandably) so I didn't get to price out other vendors but to give you an idea it was still only around $700 for flowers for me, 5 bridemaids, boutonnieres, corsages and a few for centrepieces - which I hear is a pretty good price.

I would say get a few quotes from local florists, they may be able to put them together for cheaper than you think and it would save you the hassle.

A few ladies on here have also used fake flowers for a really reasonable price and they turned out beautifully - and they will live forever if you want to keep them!

Alternatively, if there is a costco anywhere near you, you can buy flowers through them in bulk and put them together yourselves (and you would have enough to use for centrepieces, decoration, boutonnieres etc).
