Florists - lack of response

Audrey, on October 11, 2021 at 11:53 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 11

Hi Everyone, and Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm wondering if anyone else is having trouble with lack of responsiveness from vendors, particularly florists? I reached out to 3 florists last Wed, and on Friday 5 more, and have had NO response from ANY of them. What's up with that? Now I know Friday might be difficult since they might be busy preparing for Saturday weddings, and this is Thanksgiving weekend in Canada so maybe that's adding to the delay, but I find it out odd that not one out of 8 have responded. What's your experience been?

I'm finding similar issues with the Cake vendors... I contacted 6 of them and only had response from 2. At least I have those 2 to consider but would be nice to have one more...

Florist here! I ALWAYS try to at least respond by saying hi and explain I don't have time to answer their questions but let them know when they can expect to hear back. But I will say, any holiday is busy for us, thanksgiving included, so give them some time.

My production week is - Wednesday pick up flowers, process them all night. Thursday, start building and don't stop until Saturday morning. So anyone who messages me Wednesday - Friday will not hear back from me with answers until Sunday. But again, I message back to let them know. Right now is INSANE with the amount of weddings happening. Best advice is book your florist EARLY!

I did find getting responses from vendors was had as they may have been busy or not able to make time to call back clients. Personal calls were the thing to do since I could speak to them personally. As many vendors that didn't feel to call back or respond back, I moved on to others that would want your business.

I had a similar situation with one of the florist that my wedding planner recommended to me! After a month of not hearing from them I reached out to my wedding planner and said i have not heard back from them and she she'd had talk to them about my wedding and that they were available and it was weird how they haven't responded so she reached out to them and they ended up emailing and some how my email got lost. Maybe try reaching out again? Like you said they could have been busy with the thanksgiving long weekend!

Yes!!! When I was in the early stages of planning my wedding, florists were by far the most difficult to communicate with. It was so frustrating. The florist I ended up booking with was awesome though, super quick responses. Keep looking, you don’t want to book someone you had a difficult time initially communicating with.

I tried reaching out to a few via their websites... Haven't heard from them but did finally hear from a couple of others... I'll try making some calls too as you all suggested. Thanks for letting me know it's not just me!

My experience with florists is they will prioritize in-store inquiries, online orders, phone inquiries, and then online quoting.

If you're not getting traction from florists, a suggestion is to try decor companies. A ton of them also do flowers in-house and they tend to be more responsive than regular florists when it comes to quoting.

    Hello Audrey,
I’ll suggested emailing the vendors personally AND also giving them a call. One of the florist that I have emailed told me that they are so busy at this time that emails are their last focus at this time so it’s best to call them directly should you require a quick response.
    Hope this helps you.

I agree... I wouldn't use this platform to message. I'd always contact vendors in the manner their website says to do so. Also, this is the busiest busy season vendors have ever had so I'd give them an extra grace period.

Sometimes I found that sending messages through WeddingWire, they took a lot longer to respond. I would maybe try reaching out to them directly through their actual website
