Florist

Lindsay, on February 24, 2022 at 18:53 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 9
Hi there wanted to ask a question. Is it normal for a vendor to state that they are unable to provide you with an idea of what the design of their product will be for you? I am working with a florist who states that they cannot provide me with an idea as to what the finished product might look like despite that my decorator wants to know so that they can emulate and compliment their design.

The uncertainty of florist not know what your final outlook will be for the bouquets or anything would leave questionable. Given you have the colours and particular types in mind, they should be able to show something close to what you can have on your day. I would want a confident and know florist to say okay I will have something to show you as a sample.

My florist is showing me a sample bouquet a month prior to the wedding (bridal bouquet only). She also did a small test run of my centrepiece when I was going to the venue to determine decor. This was not at an added charge, but my friends florist charged for something like this. Maybe you could see if this could be a paid option? It may give you a better idea??
My florist gave me a general idea, and showed me a few items she had in stock, but I didn’t get to see all the items/ideas. Just going a little bit on trust here.
I find it odd that they can’t be a bit more descriptive….. but covid has really taken a toll on customer service in my opinion. I’d reach out again and ask if they can provide to you atleast an outline of what florals/greenery she is planning on using and if it’s not available what she would choose.

I think it depends with how the flowers are from covid?I told my florist everything I wanted and she showed me a sample on her instagram what it would look like along with what flowers I want with it..
If you are uneasy I'd maybe suggest looking somewhere else?

I’ve heard that there is a flower shortage because of the amount of wedding this year maybe that has something to do with it ? Did she say if she was at least able to order the flowers you were wanting ?

It's hard to say what will be available with over a year away. In the event a particular bloom is out of stock or no good, they might have to use an alternative flower of a similar colour.

If she isn't giving you want, you might want to look elsewhere. It's your wedding remember that. The right florist will get you what you want or as close to it as possible depending on the season for the flowers

She does have stuff on Instagram but nothing that I want in flowers. She gave me a “rough” idea in the type of flowers she may use but it doesn’t give me what I want or what it will actually look like specially if the decorator wants to be involved…

My florist doesn't guarantee what our flowers will exactly look like. We send them our inspiration photos and they try to match them as best they can with the flowers available to purchase around the time of our wedding. But I am able to get an idea of what they will look like based off of their Instagram, they often share the flowers from weddings that they've done.

I think it is strange that they are unable to provide even a rough idea. Can they confirm color or type of flowers they may use? Is too late to look for a different florist?
