Fitness and Nutrition Motivation

Hello Everyone!!! Is is there anyone else struggling to find the motivation to focus on their fitness and nutrition before their big day? I’m considering hiring a personal trainer and nutrition coach and am wondering if anyone else did this in preparation of their big day?

I'm a bit nervous as I do want to take advantage of the wedding being my motivation but decided to do it on my own in order to keep costs down. I've successfully worked with a trainer previously but in the long term it wasn't sustainable for me and I feel like I gave up a lot of healthy life habits to become a gym rat. For that final 6 weeks before the wedding I may splurge and do a weekly session if needed but for the next 6 months my goal is to work with you tube and my fitbit. There are so many amazing (and free) home workout videos. I tend to commit to a 20 min one/day and on the days I have time/energy/motivation i pick an additional something to focus on (upper body, lower body, fat blast etc.) which usually leads to me putting in 40 minutes. i like it because of the variety. I've also been keeping log on fitbit regarding my diet with the goal to be roughly 500 cal under in intake vs output each day. I think my meals are relatively healthy and balanced but its helped me crack down on my mindless eating of junk. My other motivation is picking an old dress (that fit 3 years ago) but currently doesn't zip up and I do photos in it twice a week. I do weigh myself once a week but I prefer the photos as a way to remind myself I am making serious progress. The goal is to lose 5 lbs/month but mostly I'm just likely already feeling more comfortable in my clothes and my body again.

Honestly, if you want to diet or start a change, start small and work your way up. Both FH and I started back in the summer. We did Keto for a good 2 months to kick start our weight loss (Lost 20lbs!) and then once things started getting busy with my birthday, thanksgiving, vacation and the Christmas/New Years we have been just focusing on healthy eating and working out.

My Best advice, find a couple accounts on Instagram that are positive and motivating(Sarah Bowmar, and Joelle Samantha). For me that helped way more than spending money on a personal trainer. Both these ladies are so real, and have great content that have helped me a ton!

I now actually enjoy going to the gym and push myself to go. While running, every time I want to stop I just keep telling myself that I want to look hot in my wedding dress lol!

If you research enough, there are free meal planning/ prepping online and a lot of workout videos on youtube and instagram that are free! I'm all for saving money until the wedding!

I have not changed a single thing about my diet or exercise routine since getting engaged so now I have to kick it into high gear. I have an inch to lose off the hips so that my dress fits better. Not a lot, but only 3 months left! Yikes.

Haha must be the same storm that hit Tbay Smiley tongue I did my workout already by shoveling my way to work.

I'm making it a priority to hit the gym more often and I'm considering going paleo for a bit. My FH is currently on keto and has lost a good chunk of weight on it.

I just signed up for weight watchers! haha my FH is really into fitness so it helps.. it is hard to find the willpower to want to go to the gym.. however, once i'm there, its no big deal. plus does anyone else find yourself more attracted to your partner watching them get a good workout in? haha going to the gym together has given us both a healthy hobby.

Before you go on any diet, make sure you do a ton of research and look up the cons of the diet before starting one. I hate talking diets with people, it can almost be as bad as talking politics haha. With that being said, I like to side with science and what studies have taught us about proper nutrition, weight loss etc. The best thing you can do is try and focus the majority of your eating habits around a whole food plant based diet. Going animal free isn’t for everyone, but opting for fish instead of red meat, and staying away from dairy as much as you can will help you achieve great results, not only with weight loss but also clear skin, energy, mental health and so much more. There is absolutely no down side to replacing a serving of meat with let’s say a serving of hummus. There are major benefits though! Try and stay away from processed food as much as you can as well! It’s the hardest thing for sure! Meal prep is key. I take a Sunday and prep brown rice, quinoa and beans for the week. They all last 7 days in the fridge. There is a website I love that you can watch an endless amount of videos about nutrition and what we should/ shouldn’t be eating. And it’s all studies. It’s not opinions or experiences, it’s simply a Dr that gathers studies and shows them what those studies say. Again, I totally understand that people won’t often go 100% whole food plant based, but even incorporating more of these types of foods into your diet will benefit you. The website is

    The struggle is real!!!

I meal prepped yesterday and already had my first work out this morning!! We got TONS of snow here in Manitoba!!! I for sure count an hour of snow shovelling as a work out!! They called for 10-15 cm of snow... ya I can say we got at least that!

I would love to hire a personal trainer but I just can reason paying that kind of money. The working out is the easy part for me though - its the cooking of food (super lazy over here) that I need to work on.

I eat keto and as of yesterday I have started a 99 day challenge at my fitness studio with a group of about 15 other ladies. I'm looking forward to having the extra push from them for motivation because it can be so hard to motivate yourself sometimes! With my 99 day challenge you get access to 3 of the instructors 24/7 for any questions/help you need.. it's like a personal trainer, but wasn't nearly as expensive! I know they're common at fitness studios, so I'd definitely recommend taking s look for something similar Smiley smile

I did my first meal prep and home workout of 2019.

the meal prep is arguably the worst. So time consuming and tedious especially if you hate cooking like me. However I feel good knowing I’ve portioned out all healthy breakfasts, lunches and dinners for the whole week and don’t need to worry about calorie count.

I’m optimistic if I keep on it, I will lose the weight I need.
