I made three apts but found my dress at the second one which was great bc it takes a lot out of you trying on all those dresses and since I cancelled my third apt the shop I got my dress at told us to go for lunch and come back and my girls could try on bridesmaid dresses to get a feel for what they liked. It was awesome there was a restaurant right next door but also exhausting lol we were all definitely ready to go home after their apt. Good luck girl it’s going to amazing!!

Thanks Jenn! it was the local one where I live so thought would try it first before traveling to the city. But city here I come haha I am still excited as I just went for ideas with 2 friends to see if my actual wants looked good and I found dresses I didn't know were out there. I will take my bridal party next time and my mom to look.

My aunt recommended it to me bc that’s where my cousin found her dress. To me it was a disappointment and they just made me feel hopeless. Since I have a big bum it was hard to get dresses on and she just grabbed me really large sizes instead of helping me into them. They didn’t look good at all but it’s good to keep and open mind. My next apt was WAY better and the ladies were much more professional and helpful. I didn’t need dress sizes that were three sizes too big she just put them over my head and wiggled them down. A lot nicer of a shop I guesss it’s actually a “boutique” lol but anyways I’m sure you’ll have better luck somewhere else!

Yea I was told on the phone it would only be two and the lady put me in double the size I would normally be but she also had to clip because too big. Not sure if she just didn't have my size and only option or her just being rude.

Thank you everyone for the feedback! I did go to the appointment and it was pretty disappointing. I had called two weeks before to book at appointment and they told me I had lots of time before the store closed and they could still stay later. I got there and she said she wasn't aware of my appointment and no one should have booked in this late in the day they didn't close for another hour.. She said she would show me quickly some dresses and I would have to come back. She then asked what my normal size would be/budget and told me there wouldn't be much in my size or price range. When I had called I had asked the price ranges there so this wouldn't happen and they told me $250 to $1,500, this girl informed me it was starting at $750 and went to $2,500. I showed her my Pinterest board which had two choices long sleeve and open back/closed back or strappy with open back. She said I had no clue what I wanted and this was inconvenient. She told me to look at these ten dresses that I would be in my price range. I started to and I didn't even move them just looked a bit. She then informed me and my friend we couldn't touch because out of bag and she didn't want us ripping them. So I wasn't allowed to look or pick any dresses out I liked. she picked out a bunch for me and got annoyed that I wouldn't try some on. I tried on that style and didn't like it on myself. I didn't want to try more of that style on. My friend saw a dress in the section she told me and just pointed to look at it. The girl then informed me that it wouldn't look good because I'm too short and stubby and its meant for a skinny tall girl. To say the least I was pretty upset and disappointed with the experience. I also wasn't expecting to be put in double my normal size for dresses... I won't be going back there. The one I had liked I got the name of to search other dress stores that had it.

BTW this lady who helped me ended up being the owner! I was going to complain to management regarding the experience.

The lady I had stepped out while I actually changed but came back to do it up. I wore a strapless bra and white granny panties! They say if you’re going to wear shape wear to wear it to your appointment but I wanted to see what my dress looked like alone. Also doing your hair and makeup roughly like you want it on your day helps you feel like a bride!

When I went dress shopping I made sure I had a strapless bra on and nude underwear. They didn’t help me into the dress but they did do it up for me. I ended up going bra less because it fit better. I hope you find your dress. It was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed the experience.

It is a sample sale, so I was told that there will be another bride in the change room with me. I think I'm going to wear a strapless bra and leggings, if there's someone else there with me.

I don't have anything else decided in terms of accessories or shoes, should I? I thought that all would go after I have the dress.

I also wore a strapless bra and found it just got in the way so I went braless for the dresses. I also made the mistake of wearing hot pink underwear the first time, some dresses are a little more sheer than others haha.

I went to two different stores for trying on dresses and my attendants just helped do it up and clip it, but I got changed by myself. My only advice is have an open mind to other styles and enjoy yourself!

Thank you! I will defiantly keep this in mind for tomorrow I'm not expecting the styles I like to turn out but excited to try dresses on. I will make sure to wear a strapless bra though. I honestly don't think I have one but I have the bra's that stick to you instead. I usually just wear those and will see if it works for trying on things tomorrow.

It all really depends on the place. My first appointment was at David’s bridal, which was full service! It was really great! My consultant gave me a corset/bra thing to put on and a petticoat thing, so I didn’t even have to worry about underwear, and then I was pretty well covered and she helped me into each dress (which was good because they were hard to get into!). The second place I went to was not like that at all! I wore my own undergarments and they did not help me put the dresses on. Expect different experiences from different places.

It’s definitely good to bring some inspiration, but it’s also good to keep an open mind. I really wanted straps, so at first I wouldn’t look at any strapless dresses, but then the consultant pointed out that it would be easy to add straps in alterations, and I may find a dress I like that is strapless!

My first few appointments at different boutiques I wore a bra and panties. By the 3rd place though I gave up and just had titties everywhere... I stopped caring haha! They have seen many so it didn't bother me anymore!

a strapless bra is a good idea! However many dresses already come with a bra and corset inside so it might be too much! Wear nice fitting panties and bring shoes with heels that you expect to wear!

If you want privacy completely they will step out or turn around to allow you time to jump in the dress before helping you do up, but honestly it's so much easier to just be free and let them get you in and out asap!

Yay, so exciting! I did not get the dress I expected going into my appointments. I tried the style on and honestly did not like it on me at all, but I did find my dream dress on the same store and it is the dress style I had pictured myself in when I was younger. As for privacy you can just request it. The first place I went to I was alone on the dressing room then she just did it up for me, second I was full on topless in front of her but I'm pretty comfortable with that so it wasn't an issue, the third and last they gave me a corset top and under skirt. Some dresses require help putting hem on because they are big, heavy or you need to get the over your head and not just step into them. But like I said you can request privacy, or help from someone you bring but I've found that most places the ladies there make you feel super comfortable and you don't even notice that you're half naked in front of them.

The first shop I went to I put it on and then she came and did it up but the second shop she helped me into most of them while in the room with me. Which for me was needed bc I have a big butt and I was trying fitted dresses lol. I just wore a no show thong and a stick on bra. I did my hair and makeup and of course you need perfume/ deodorant. I would just keep an open mind and trust your consultant, if you want privacy maybe phone them and ensure they know your wishes.

YAY!!! This is certainly an exciting day! I would wear whatever you plan to wear under your gown the day of the wedding. I brought along a strapless bra and spanx. I decided to go with a body shaper after purchasing my dress though because I realized how difficult it would be to get the spanx off and on if I needed to use the washroom that night with my fit and flare dress. I also brought along the shoes I would be wearing that day as well so they could measure the length of the dress accordingly.

Most dress places will undo the dress and then walk out of the room until you've slipped into it. They will then help you do it up, especially if it's a corset back or if it's too small and it needs to be clipped to get the full effect of the dress. Be prepared for them to potentially see your bottom though. It's bound to happen in most dresses. Just let the consultant know that you would like privacy while slipping into the dress and they will give you space!
