First dance song troubles - fh saying no to every song i suggest

Okay so I’m having issues finding a first dance song. I’ve sent my fiancé dozens of songs that I love and that I feel have lyrics that represent us. He’s sent me one. I asked him about it this morning and he says he just doesn’t like any of the ones I’ve sent, but he also won’t send me any because I “said no to all of the ones he sent” even though he only send me one 🙃 I’m feeling super frustrated right now because I want to get this figured out before the new year so that we can start working on our dance. Has anyone else had this many problems picking a song?



For reference here’s what I sent him:- Made by Spencer Crandall- I Get to Love You by Ruelle- Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran- With You by Tyler Shaw- Yours by Russell Dickerson- Forever After All by Luke Combs- Prayed for You by Matt Stell- My Person (Wedding version) by Spencer Crandall
What he sent me:- Baby by Wyclef Jean

    Seems it was a struggle for you both because of the genre choice or lyrics that wasn't felt by one as the other. This will be tough though you know there is a middle ground to meet for the right song. Its great you two did find a song and he did like it for the lyrics as well.

    We did go through the same battle as his genre was from the 80s and I knew the 90s genres so there would be major differences. At the end of going to many songs, we did agree to a popular song that has been playing on the radio and at weddings. The song is Truly, Deeply by Savage Gardens.

    So we did end up talking and he just doesn’t like how the notes are in the songs I sent him (he used to DJ professionally and makes his own music so like your friend’s husband he can be picky about it). I think we may have found the one though 😊 sent him You Make It Easy by Jason Aldean tonight and he likes it 🙌

    Have you asked him what it is he isn't liking about the songs you are sharing with him? Knowing WHAT he isn't liking about the songs (lyrics, music, tempo, etc.) may help narrow things down or help in the search.

    A friend of mine married a musician, so he was WAYYY picky on the song choice but shared what he liked or didn't like about the options my girl friend kept bringing to the table. Eventually, they settled on the Thousand Years duet (it managed to check ALL of his boxes).

    I totally feel and understand what you’re going through. I went through the same thing with my husband. At that time, we thought we had one. Then we were not on the same page at some point. However, he gave two other choices and later on I was not bothered with the song choices he had. I told him to let’s mashup both songs. In that case, it works out. I think you should do that. Or in this case, save him this since he’s letting you choose everything else. Remember it’s his wedding too, sometimes we forget that *I know I did at times* 😂😂

    I would just pick two signature drinks. A His and Hers drink that people can choose from.

    If you're both disagreeing, then I suggest you each pick a song and then edit it into a mashup. Have the first verse and chorus be Wyclef and the second verse and chorus be the song of your choice. Your choreography can be two different dances that correspond to each song.

    I would suggest that but I want our first dance to be choreographed so we’ll have to learn the dance together ahead of time. He’s letting me pick pretty much everything - there’s a few things he’s said no to but we basically agree on everything else.

    Frustrating! I hear you - we're in the same boat with things like: choosing a signature drink, or what he wants the groomsmen to wear.

    Sit down and have a conversation: is the first dance important to him? We've divided up wedding tasks based on what we care about. My FH doesn't care about decor, so that's all me. Ask him if you can just choose the song to surprise him. Chances are, he won't dislike it in the moment!

    Maybe suggest for every song he's said no to he sends you a song? I mean you both have to like the song or feel like it's yours.... We have gone through so many! Every time I think we have a song he forgets and starts asking about new songs..... My FH sends too many songs 🙃
