Fire a vendor

Becca, on February 19, 2017 at 12:36 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 4

Hi everyone!Did you have to fire a vendor during your wedding planning? If yes, how did you handle the situation?
I have a lady in my community who was supposed to make my wedding dress and my bridal party outfit, but I changed my mind because I found something better. I didn't sing a contract whit her yet....
I talk to her on the phone, explained the situation. But I felt she was disappointed which is understandable. I explained the situation to him on the phone, thanking him for giving me his time. But I felt she was disappointed, which is understandable.

Hey Becca, I'm glad to hear you're feeling better about this Smiley smile I think Jenn brought up some good point in here. Since you didn't hire them, your situation is closer to declining an offer than cancelling a contract. It's too bad that you are close to this person, and might have hurt their feelings, but I'm sure there might be a way for you to make it up to them. Smiley heart Are they invited to the wedding? Could you give them a little something as a gesture to say thank you for wanting to help?

    Hey Becca,
I have not been in this situation but I do agree Jennifer since you did not sign the contract. It's always go to look around to see what other vendors offer before signing a contract. You did the right thing.

If you didn't sign a contract then try not to feel too guilty. You didn't lock into anything with them.

We are supposed to have my fiances friend as a DJ at our wedding. We met with him in November to go over our options with him. He gave us a quit quote via text about the price. Nothing more. We then let him know that we had somebody playing live music at our ceremony and would only require him for the reception. He told us he would get back to us with a written contract and a new quote just a few weeks after our first meeting. It's now almost the end of February and he continues to have excuses as to why he can't get it to us. Granted, he is currently in University and it's a busy time of the year, but if you're running a business you should try your hardest to actually get things to your customers.

Clearly I'm becoming frustrated with him, especially because we've been asking him weekly for something, so I've told my fiance that he has until the end of the month to get us the contract or we are moving on from him. I've been emailing another DJ about what they offer and he sounds amazing and is willing to give me a contract immediately. Plus, he has great pricing. Pretty much the only reason why my fiance wants his friend to be our DJ is because he said he would "give us a good deal". Super annoying.

I'm sorry you had to fire a vendor. But you found something better! Don't stress about it Smiley smile
