Feeling lost

Shannon, on April 26, 2017 at 07:12 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 13
I have so many ideas for my wedding! When we first got engaged we had planned for 2018, but we pushed the wedding to 2019 to have more time to save up, and to wait until my mom comes back from studying in Japan. The problem is I'm waiting for summer to go look at venues so that I'll have a good idea of what it will look like in summer, as we are having an outdoor ceremony. The catering is mostly planned, the cake is planned, the dress is picked, the jewelery is picked, the men's clothes are picked, I'm slowly gathering favours and table decorations, I've designed the guest book and the invitations, programs, etc, the only thing I don't have planned yet is venue location and photographer.
We don't have the funds to book or buy things right now as we just moved. I'd like to do an engagement shoot but we can't afford that either. And our wedding party and family are spread out and busy so I can't really plan an engagement party yet.
I guess I'm just lost and frustrated. I have no planning or diy I can do right now and my excitement for the wedding is running out of steam. I think I'll be excited again when I am able to start booking things, but for right now I'm kind of sad. Any suggestions for fighting off pre-wedding blues?

I also concur with those who suggested taking a step back. You don't want to decide absolutely everything two years before hand. You might change your mind or see something you like better. I would just try to enjoy this time and start pinterest boards and reading wedding magazines and books.

I commiserate. I've been spending a fair bit of time putting the planning on the back burner because otherwise I rile myself up and get mad at my spouse. You should add me on pinterest! We can share beauty and the beast theme ideas!

Sometimes it's good to take a step back! I feel like that sometimes and when I just let it all go, I find ideas come to me and I come up with new things to research and/or to do.
Remember most wedding photographers will include your engagement shoot in your package so I wouldn't pay extra for it!
Also try to get involved in other activities other than wedding stuff. Remember after you are married you are going to have the same void when you don't have all these lists and to dos in your head!
    You'll be fine! Smiley smile

Hey hun! totally understandable that you are feeling this way! You are so on the ball that you have many things organized (also because you pushed the date back!). Have you picked out the bridal party dresses/gifts? Otherwise, other things to start looking at could be the wedding bands, gathering people's addresses for the invitations, start looking at a registry (just to get an idea of where and what you would want, it is still a bit far off), start planning processional/reception music/DJ, etc.

It is hard when you feel stuck with nothing else to do! I completely sympathize, but hopefully the excitement will start to come back! the advantage is that you can now spread out the rest of wedding planning so you can get a little taste of it most days hehehe

Otherwise, totally agree with Erin - do a DIY engagement shoot! That would be so fun!

I understand feeling overwhelmed with ideas! I would say that if you are really looking for something to do you could plan a DIY engagement shoot. This might help you get inspired /engagement-ideas-rings/diy-engagement-photo-shoot
