Favourite Date Night In

Valérie, on February 18, 2019 at 23:06 Posted in Living together 0 21

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good night out, but they're often expensive and I can't stay up as late as I used to...

...here's footage of me anywhere after 11pm lol

Lately, our date nights have been mostly at home and we enjoy them so much. We usually come up with a theme and prep for it. I think, our favourite, so far have been wine + cheese (and meats) night, as well as a board/card/video game competition !!

I wanna know, what are your favourite date nights in?

It seems that when were not working we have some nights to ourselves to catch up on family & friends. Then our time would be any day of the week, We take turns making dinner have a few drinks, talk, and laugh the night away. This also depends if I get called in thank goodness I have call display. With the Wedding creeping up so fast it's like mmm sometimes I just bite the bullet and leap in.

One of my favourites was when we did an electronic free evening. We went to a local market and bought our supper (we each chose our own thing since they make so many things every day!) and we tried each others, of course!

We then played cribbage. We put up our Christmas tree (obviously this was before Christmas!) and then we had a bath. It was so nice to not be distracted by our phones for a few hours!

My favourite date night is when one of us is off for the day so we get to cook an actual dinner and then we binge documentaries together.

We always try and make new recipes but sometimes comfort food is required (especially if one of us had a rough day) and then we go the documentaries and the first one we find on Netflix that interests us we sit down and watch and then we usually spend an hour or so afterwards discussing it over some card or board game. I love it Smiley smile

Favourite date night is picking a recipe to cook, and then watching a movie or one of our favourite tv shows. (Masterchef, Chopped, or Top Chef).

I also very much appreciate date nights where we just play music and dance around our home with wine and and snacks.Smiley heart

My fave is when we order Indian food (comes to like $25 for the two of us) and then we just sit and either watch a movie or binge watch a tv show we’re enjoying.

Well, our most recent date night in was Valentine's Day. We went and picked up some steak & lobster, some bubbly and dessert. I made an appy, he (mostly) cooked dinner, we lit candles, had a nice romantic dinner, then he drew me a bath while he set up our massage table and I got a massage!

Honestly our best date nights are all at home. One of us will cook dinner for the other, something we don't normally have, and we'll cuddle up and watch a movie, or give massages. It's the best. Super relaxing and usually costs very little. Steak & lobster was a splurge, so with wine and dessert it was more like $70-80... but that's a heck of a lot cheaper than The Keg!

We don't do anything specific, last time we did a seafood theme so we had a lobster bisque to start, scallops as the second course. I don't remember what else but we have done lobster in the past or homemade pasta. We usually have one more expensive item we would never order at a restaurant.

We have date nights in, here is some of our favourites. When we do an at home date night we put the phones away and unless we are watching a movie there are no electronics.

    - We have done like a full 4 course meal a few times
    - We love board game nights
    - we will make a charcuterie board
    - He also listens to a podcast and sometimes they "review" movies while they watch them. We spend a lot of nights listening to these while watching movies.
    - my favourite is relaxing in the backyard with a fire and a few drinks though.

We've turned our wedding planning dates into coffee dates! Hauling our laptops to the nearest café and just hashing things out around our favourite hot beverage!

Yes, this weather isn't helping! We just finished the LOTR trilogy. I think we're embarking in a Jack Ryan movie marathon, since my FH was shocked I had never seen them before hahaha.

Love date nights in! I think that they are just as special as elaborate date nights out and usually a heck of a lot cheaper. Our date nights in are similar, usually involving a movie or tv show and specific food. Valentines was cheese fondue and The Notebook. Sometimes its just popcorn and a movie as well. Once I surprised FH with an indoor picnic in our living room. Other times it might be video gaming or working on a puzzle. There is always bevvies and snacks involved though Smiley tongue

We've been re watching the Harry Potter movies the last few nights lol. We haven't done much this winter outside since Northern Ontario has gotten slammed with snow, but in the summer we have an inflatable hot tub so we hop in with some drinks.

We have 2 cats and one night we put on a youtube video of birds at different bird feeders and it entertained them (and us!) a lot more than we thought it would!

I think that my favourite date night in so far is when we have a fire outside with some drinks Smiley smile Haven't been up to it with the winter being so harsh this year but during the summer it is our go-to.

I know how you feel! I'm up at 5am everyday for work and honestly by 9-10pm I'm DONE... even on weekends... It's been kind of poopy because even on our date nights in I'm always falling asleep so quickly Smiley cry

I do still love them! Movies or Video Games and dinner! Never done a themed night though I do like that idea! Maybe even tie dinner into what movie we're watching! I like it!

Also with planning a wedding and looking for a house the quiet lazy nights in have been REALLY nice Smiley heart
