Faux vs. Fresh

Melanie, on August 22, 2018 at 16:19 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 7
I'm currently debating fake flowers or real ones for my bouquets.

I'm concerned about fresh flowers dying or getting ruined. Also concerned that I don't get to see them until the day of and what if i don't like them or they aren't what I envisioned.

I found a few vendors who make very real looking fake flowers which I think would be more durable, and economical.

Wondering is anyone can shed some advice/comments on this that I might not be thinking about!

We used silk flowers from Amazon. Looked just as good as real ones! My wife's daughter and son-in-law made the bouquets. This was the result:Faux vs. Fresh 1

Hi Marie I see that you live just outside of Edmonton. There's a flower shop on the south side of edmonton called FLOWER AFFAIRS (10431 51 ave). Margarita the owners does amazing work with faux flowers and just her shop itself is absolutely amazing

I opted for fake flowers. I loved the idea of keeping the bouquet forever and it being a keepsake for the bridal party. I went with the same company my friend used for her wedding because I loved the quality. We went back and forth on my vision and she recently sent me photos of the completed bouquets and people were shocked that they weren’t real. I highly recommend fake flowers!

I had 3 meetings with my florist and she sent me specific names of flowers which I looked into and we adjusted till I was happy. My centrepieces are single submerged roses with floating candles in vases, 3 per table, so only really greenery and the bouquets for live flowers. I was considering faux but I found them to be no cheaper for the realistic looking ones and they’re hard to resell since they would need to match the style and colour scheme of another bride. If you’re not too fussed, there are some rental options you May want to look into.

I'm getting my wedding flower package from Valley Flowers, purchased through Costco.ca.... they send tight, fresh buds, and suggest I receive them on the Wednesday for the Saturday wedding. They purposely have them ready so they will bloom to perfection for the big day.

Also, you receive them on the Wednesday, it gives them a day to replace/rush air anything that was damaged or wrong, which they guarantee they will do.

I've heard nothing but amazing reviews about it, and I'm super confident with my choice. My bouquet selection is even different colours in their photo (it's the Garden Wedding Collection)... but I talked to someone on the phone, and they said I can order all of the flowers in white, so it will match my winter wedding to a T.

Also the price is amazing. I'm exchanging the bag of petals and 2 of the corsages for extra boutonnieres, so I'm getting my bridal bouquet, 3 bridesmaid bouquets, 11 boutonnieres and 2 corsages for $379.
