Family doing wedding ceremony.

Brianna, on January 11, 2023 at 17:35 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 2
Hey everyone!
Looking for some advice on having a family member do our wedding ceremony!

Unfortunately, where I live it is difficult to get your marriage commissioner license without having to travel to there.
My idea is to have my family member preform the ceremony, then just call up the officiant for them to actually legally “pronounce” us, then the family member can introduce us to our guests!
Has anyone done anything similar? Do we think it would be weird to have someone come up to do the legal portion?
Any advice is great! Thanks ☺️☺️

I agree with Hank. Is it an option to have the family member do the whole ceremony...just presentation wise, it sounds like it would flow better and not look at all confusing? then do private ceremony before or after?

I would just have your family member perform the public ceremony while having the licensed marriage commissioner do a private ceremony either before or after the wedding to get the papers legally signed. In order for the marriage to be legit, the officiant usually has to do the whole thing.
