Essential or Extra: Photo booth?

I absolutely LOVE photo booths and I always have a good time when there is one around. However, I've been thinking more and more about it and I've decided that its not something that we need at our wedding. Here's why:

1. Our reception space isn't very big and there would be no place to set it up without clashing with the vibe and decor.

2. I find them distracting at weddings. I want everyone to enjoy the company and dance all night long. Taking people away from the dance floor is the last thing I want.

3. They are not cheap. Everyone has a phone with a camera - I'm leaning more towards creating our own backdrop and fun props to set up on the terrace of the venue if people will be looking for a good photo opportunity. Great way to cut costs.

Extra for sure. Not going to do photo booth or photo props etc, just isn't the style we are going for and lack of room at the venue for sure.

We will not have a"photo booth" but we will have an area with props for pictures.

Fun extra if budget allows. We had one, don’t regret it, but nowadays they have unique types of photobooths. I saw one that’s actually an interactive mirror and another one that is a rover.

There are so many activities that can go on during a wedding. 'Traditional' activities include dancing, dining. Photobooths are fun, yes, but they are overrated. Why not try something a lot more fun like board games, a kid's bouncy castle, or an outdoor game of dodgeball? The world is your oyster and there are so many fun things to do as a group.

Everyone has a camera on their phone nowadays anyways. People take goofy or funny photos every single day. A photobooth no longer has the novelty it once had. People even take selfies at Starbucks for goodness sake.

If you gave your heart set on it, Instead of a photo booth, set up a selfie station and save hundreds.

Extra, but an easy and inexpensive extra, which is why I imagine it caught on like wildfire lately. Don't know if we'll have it at our wedding or not. Could be fun with more family-friendly wedding directions, especially with kids and silly props.

An extra that is super overdone at this point. It was fun the first couple of times but the last few weddings I went to I hardly saw the thing get used at all. People seem to be pretty over that trend at this point and unless your photographer is throwing it in as a freebie I would say it isn't worth the dough.
