Engagement ring/wedding band

Jocelyn, on January 14, 2018 at 16:48 Posted in Wedding ceremony 0 13
I know this 2 part question is going to sound ridiculous, but I really need the advice!!!

1: do you wear your engagement ring on the left hand or right during the ceremony?

2: in what order do brides typically wear their engagement ring & wedding band?

I wore my engagement ring on my my ring finger during the ceremony because it wouldn't fit on any other fingers or other hand. I just switched it after the ceremony so that the wedding band is closer to your heart.

I've been told that the wedding band goes first on your finger cause it's closer to your heart and then your engagement ring on top of the wedding band. I cant remember the proper saying of the weddjng band but I'm going to take my engagement off to put in the box we are using( I fractured my ring finger on my right hand so can't wear it there) put the band on then put the engagement on after. But again everyone and ever tradition is different.

I don’t know about you but personally don’t want to take my engagement ring off during the ceremony. So I’ll switched them after. Didn’t realize that the wedding band came first until last week at the jewlers I was a woman trying on her rings and that’s how she wore it. So I asked her about it. Never to old to learn new things lol
do what you feel is right for you.

There are different traditions depending on where you look. I wore my engagement ring like normal for the ceremony and after the ceremony put my wedding band on first followed by my engagement ring.

I will be wearing my engagement ring on my right hand during the ceremony. And I plan on wearing first the wedding band (so in the beginning of the finger) and the engagement ring on top of that.

I had my engagement ring soldered to my wedding bands (one on each side of the e-ring), so they all went on at once during the ceremony. My sister wore hers on her left hand and her husband put the wedding band on top and after the ceremony she switched them so they'd be in the proper order (wedding band on the bottom, e-ring on top). Some people will wear the e-ring on their right hand before and then switch it over. There's really no wrong way to make it work for you!

Some brides will wear their engagement ring on their right hand during the ceremony to keep it out of the way, and some won't wear it at all! I had one of my bridesmaids hold my engagement ring during the ceremony and I put it back on right after.

Traditionally you wear your wedding band on the bottom of your ring finger with the engagement ring on top. Tradition says this is so your wedding band is closest to your heart! Smiley heart

I don't know that there is a proper way, it depends on your preference. I will be wearing my engagement ring on my right hand and then switch it to the left after the ceremony because I plan on wearing my wedding ring first.

I've heard some people leave it on and switch the rings later. Some people keep wedding ring and engagement ring together and husband puts on both during the ring exchange. Some give their engagement ring to the MOH to hang on to and put it on after the ceremony on top of the wedding ring.

Interesting...i've typically seen women wear their wedding band first, followed by their eng. ring.

Some brides wear it on their left hand some on their left, some don’t wear it during the ceremony at all! It’s totally what you want to do

and it’s usually engagement band under the wedding ring but some ring sets are designed to go the other way so it’s still pretty much up to you!

It's really whatever you're comfortable with, there is no set rules on how to wear it. I prefer wedding first then engagement ring on top so on my wedding day I will wear my engagement ring on my right hand then after the ceremony I'll put it back on my left on top of my wedding band.
