Engagement ring on wedding day

Ellen, on July 9, 2018 at 12:41 Posted in Wedding ceremony 0 12
What does a bride typically do with her engagement ring on the day of the wedding? It doesn’t fit my right hand but I’d kind of like to have it with me on the day.
Could I have someone wear it for me?
When do I put it back on my left hand?

Most people I asked left it on their left hand, added the wedding ring on top, then switched them at some point. My brother put both the engagement and wedding rings on my SIL’s finger at their wedding.

My original plan was to wear mine on my right hand, but it didn't end up fitting!

So my maid of honour wore it during the ceremony, and had it waiting for me at our table for the reception where I popped it back on.

I just wore mine on my left finger like normal and then switched them around after the ceremony so that the band was on the bottom.

Just wear it on its normal finger and then switched them around after the ceremony quickly before going for pictures.

I am keeping it on my ring finger the whole time. My wedding band will just go over top and then I will switch it after the ceremony. I don't think there is any written rule for not wearing your ring at your ceremony.

My sister just kept her engagement ring on her left hand, put the wedding band on and then switched them afterwards. I plan on doing that as well

Are you wearing a bracelet by any chance? I suggested to another bride to hang it from Pandora bracelet she was planning to wear, and when she tried it out it looked quite cute!

You could always leave it on the left hand, and reverse the order of the rings after the ceremony... but I think tying your ring to your bouquet, or looping it on a necklace/bracelet, would be nice.

I plan to leave my engagement ring with whoever is going to be responsible for holding on to my fiancé and I's wedding bands before the ceremony. During the ceremony, my fiancé will put it on my finger after my wedding band.

I'm in the same boat as you where my ring doesn't fit on my right hand. If that's the case on my wedding day, I'll have my MOH (sister) hold onto it and just put it on after the ceremony.

I've only heard of both rings being put on the same finger on the left hand. It's a thing to wear both the engagement and wedding ring this way. Ultimately up to you. For that day I'm wearing both together just just the wedding ring by itself

I plan on having mine on my right hand as it does fit - but other people I have spoken with keep it on their left hand and either switch the rings as the wedding band is put on or they put the wedding band on in "the wrong order" and adjust them afterwards.
