Engagement Photoshoot

Holly, on December 18, 2017 at 01:04 Posted in Before the wedding 0 20
We are getting our engagement photos done this week, outdoors. It will be a winter theme shoot obviously, however we are getting married in June. A few friends/family made comments on how it doesn't match them theme of our wedding, being opposite seasons. I personally do not care, I love the idea of a winter themed shoot with Christmas lights and snow as our background. What is everyone opinion on this? Did you stick to the weddings theme for your photos? Or do something different?

Our photographer got so excited that she couldn't help but post a couple more pictures while she was editing!

Engagement photos do not need to be the same theme as the wedding. They are for you to have a memento of the time when you got engaged. You make it the memory you want it to be.

Engagement photos don't have to match the wedding theme. It is about getting to know your photographer and them getting to know you as a couple and what you like and don't like.

I think winter is a perfect time for engagement photos!

I agree, people are way too opinionated about things that aren't their own! Luckily for me I am very good at blocking those opinions out. I love he idea of our summer wedding with our winter engagement photos.

    Hey Holly,

people are always so opinionated! My FH are getting married next fall. We are purposely choosing to do our photos in early spring. I don’t see why you need to have your photos for each be in the same season! This way you have a variety of photos as a couple!

I think that sometimes people tend to overthink such things. It is great that your sessions will be in different seasons, so are ours (winter engagement session and summer wedding).

I agree with everyone, I love the idea of doing the different seasons. My fiance wanted a winter wedding so it works for him having the engagement shoot in winter.

Do what you want! I think a winter themed shoot sounds beautiful! Why should everything fit into one central theme?Mix it up! Have fun and do what makes you two happy!

Photos are something you will keep to remember for a lifetime. Don't let others dictate what you feel is wrong to do. You as a couple have to know for sure. Plus it will memorable to do something fun and different.

We did a fall shoot for a summer wedding. I think you totally do not need a consistent theme. I think its actually kinda cool to have different seasons in your photos Smiley smile

We did! But that wasn't intentionally I don't think. I've seen engagement photos done in the fall and then it's a summer wedding. They turn out so adorable. Honestly, they are your photos so do what you like 😊

We are having a summer wedding, and we did a fall engagement shoot. You sooooo don’t need to match the seasons. I personally think it’s actually better to switch it up.
