I agree with the other ladies, a pattern would be too much, so you want something simple.

You could honestly just do a white tshirt and jeans and it would match.

I agree - the less patterns the better.

I would say that he could wear a good pair of jeans with maybe something orange (I know the complimentary colour would be yellow but that seems to be too in your face and also purple + yellow are Easter colours for most churches I know).

Not a professional but I would suggest something with no pattern and also something medium like yours (not too dark, not too light). We had gotten photos done with a friend and I wore dark and my husband wore light, and she had a hard time getting lighting right
