Hey everyone! Happy almost Friday!
We had our engagement party this past weekend and I thought I'd share a few lessons I learned from it! We had it at a venue, and there was about 50 guests. The venue was great! Overall I'm really happy we did it there over our house / a parent's house because it was great not to worry about preparing food, drinks, or cleaning up after! There were a few things I wish I had done though:
1) I didnt spend ANY time with FH. Didn't even have a drink with him! We had a lot of out of town guests and we were both so preoccupied with making sure we got around to talk to everyone. Which brings me to #2..
2) I wish we didn't invite so many people. We have so many loved ones who wanted to celebrate with us but I really felt like I didn't get to cherish the time with the people who came because my time was so split up between them all. How do people deal with this problem at their actual wedding?! Seriously, any advice on this I'd love to hear, because I actually started stressing about this after the party was over..
3) In all of the commotion I didn't get any pictures Seriously. Everything went by so fast by the time I realised I hadn't gotten any it was over! The family got a few, but I really wish I would have gotten one of FH and I.
Overall we had so much fun, but I will definitely be more aware of these things at the wedding. I know everyone says the planning and everything is stressfull but after this experience I really want to take more time to just sit back and ENJOY this experience and being engaged. It's only been 3 months but I feel like it's gone by in a whirwind.
Lesson learned: Sit back and take the time to enjoy eachother through the chaos.
