We postponed until next year in May. It was originally going to be June 27th this year but things in Ontario aren't looking like large gatherings are going to be permitted for a while still. I don't want guests to be afraid to come either. I would contact your vendors and see what dates are available next year sooner than later.

They will show up and have their travel plans changed for your wedding. There are chances of other engagements occurring otherwise.

Just wondering, you mentioned “if guests would be comfortable showing up next year”. Why wouldn’t guests come next year? If anything guests would probably be more comfortable coming next year instead of this year...

You can postpone the wedding to next year if you are comfortable knowing your guests will be guaranteed to show up. The venue can work to rebook your date upon the opening availability.

Another way is to have the wedding done with the Officiant present and photographer if he/she will come out to take a few pictures of the day and going semi-formal at the house. Your families can be present staying in the car parked on the curb to watch the ceremony. The vow renewal followed by reception can be done next year or anniversary party as your guests will be present.

    Hello,

I was June 27, 2020 and postponed to June 2021. We figured many of our guests wouldn't be comfortable attending and honestly, it's going to be a while until things are even remotely "normal" here in Ontario. We had a challenging time cutting our guest list as well as we just weren't enjoying the process anymore due to the stress and uncertainty of the situation.

    Best of luck!

    Hi Beah,

We were supposed to get married June 27, 2020 and moved it to next year! We were given dates by our venue and oringially settles for February 6, 2021. Then the news started blasting the entire “fall/winter” wave concept around that we panicked again and moved it all the way to September 2021. We originally wanted June 2021 to keep the same month but NONE of our vendors lined up until September, so what’s a few extra months at that point. If you have the ability to postpone, and you’ve discussed with your FH that that is what’s best for you two, then I would go ahead personally. The stress was completely lifted when we moved it and the excitment came back!
If you are interested in keeping your June date you can always do a small civil ceremony? Just keep in mind that restrictions will still be in place and social distancing in full force. Every province is different, and here in Ontario our premier gave a very vague re-opening plan... but even looking at Alberta and how their chief medical officer of health said no gatherings of more than 15 for the rest of the summer, that’s something to consider. Here in Ontario we were hit 3 times as hard by COVID compared to Alberta so I doubt we can have large gatherings over the summer as well.
All the best to you and your future hubby! Keep us posted Smiley smile

We’re July 18 and we’re continuing to wait. My bridal shower is June 13 and we’re still waiting on that too but I doubt it’ll go ahead.

We’ve invited 125 people to the shower and 325 to the wedding - so we have a lot of people involved.
I have a call with my bridal shower venue tomorrow to figure out how to move forward from here.
Originally, we weren’t going to postpone at all and just cancel but FH and I have been discussing postponing but have no idea when cause our wedding venue is fully booked next year 😂
