Honestly I thought my heart was set on a topaz until we found mine (rose gold and diamond) but he knew I wanted black stones in the wedding band (my mentor had black diamonds and I always loved it) so we got a band with onyx as well

Love emeralds but "diamonds are forever". Especially since they are one of the strongest and most durable materials out there, which part of the reason why they are so valuable and make such good engagement rings. Emeralds are a lot more fragile and better suited for fine jewellery that you wear on special occasions, where as diamonds are better for everyday wear.

My favourite stone is amethyst but my ring also has emeralds! I love non-diamond engagement rings and wish they were more popular! (and easier to find)
