My boyfriend and I are wanting to elop but have no idea where to start or what to do.

Any advice?

There are many choices to consider when eloping.

    1. City Hall ceremonies that have different payments according to their services and Officiants available. Marriage license is a separate charge though they will get it done for you too.

    2. Immediate family only ceremony with your choice of Officiant from City Hall (may charge for outside services) or online/referred by family/friend.

    3. Home wedding on a lower scale and minimal guests present with Officiant.

Call or visit websites to get ideas of pricing to see what budget works for you to the best value and renting suit/dress to overpay as a full purchase price.

My advice: keep it as quiet as you can. Otherwise you'll have the feelings and opinions over every family member forced upon you. Sweet Aunt Betty is suddenly the most opinionated and aggressive woman you will ever have had the misfortune of meeting (and she will rage cry at you as if your day is about her).

Otherwise do whatever makes you happy! Maybe pick a spot that means something to you (a beach or park perhaps) or that will looks great in photos. When we thought about eloping we would still have photos because they are super important to me.

There are companies that specialize in elopements. They’ll provide pretty much everything - the venue, photographer, officiant, flowers, decoration, etc. See if you can find one in your area! They can probably also point you in the right direction for any extras they can’t or don't provide.

    1. Pick a date

    2. Apply for a marriage license through an issuer

    3. Hire a marriage commissioner to officiate the ceremony

    https://vitalstats.gov.mb.ca/pdf/marriage_commissioners_wpg.pdf

    4. Find two people who will agree to sign off as witnesses to your marriage

    5. Choose a location to hold the ceremony

    6. Get married!

You give the marriage license to the marriage commissioner and he or she will take care of the paper work for you to be legally married. You'll then need to order a Marriage Certificate.
