Elope or microwedding?

Kasia, on December 24, 2019 at 12:04 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 7
What are your experiences? Which would be better to do, an elopement or microwedding.

Neither of us like being the center of attention, and don't want a lot of people - maybe 30 max.
If we elope I'm thinking of doing a BBQ reception when we come back, but if it's a micro wedding I have no idea what we'll do!

I would do a micro wedding - just immediate family (siblings (& spouses), parents, grandparents).

You could just do a small church ceremony or somewhere at the park, and then for the reception you could either still do a BBQ or you could go to a restaurant Smiley smile

Congrats on the engagement by the way!

You could do a microwedding with 30 people. you can rent a cottage or community centre or even a party room in a condo!

Elopement as an ptivate time and a small reception followed after you return with friends and family.

We eloped here! We had our kids and immediate families, a musician, photographer and officiant in a beautiful garden. We had a limo! Then we took our families out to eat at a restaurant in a private dining room. It was perfect and, not including jewellery or wardrobe, cost about $2300 (officiant, flowers, photographer, limo, musician, park permit, meal).

We had looked into eloping and found it was quite expensive. I fell in love with the idea of Ireland and it was about 3000 Euro before flights or hotel.

We're doing a small ceremony instead.

We’re having a 30 person wedding and we’re excited because it feels like more of a celebration than a parade. You still have the planning of a regular wedding just minus the numbers.
You can plan some really nice elopements too but the packages are usually for 10-20 people. Check them both out, it can give you lots to consider.

We did a small Canadian destination wedding and it was perfect for us. 44 guests came to Canmore (mostly from Winnipeg) and it was quite lovely!

What are your expectations if you have a micro-wedding? Would you have it in your home town? Would you feel pressured from the people that aren't invited? Have you seen options for eloping or micro weddings tat appeal to you and your partner?

The beauty of weddings these days is that you can do what suits you best!
