Electronic letters or Postal letters

Bright, on December 2, 2019 at 13:33 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 19

HELLO,

We hesitate between sending electronic invitation letters or postal letters. We try to save as much as possible and have about 300 people to invite.

Hey! I'm on the same boat but the more we look at it, paper is a waste of money and environmentally unfriendly. Most, if not all, of our family use email on a daily basis. So we're leaning towards doing e invites. Saving about $600 altogether!

Yep. They’re exactly like the ones you’d get at the post office. I’ve sent my save the dates out and had no issues.

If you’re worried about postage, Costco sells stamps by the 100. It’s way cheaper than buying at the post office.

We had a list of roughly 250-300 people to invite (but most were couples) so we sent the invitations out in the mail (about 200 physical invitations). But then had them RSVP to me by email/text/call and provided them that information.

RSVP is how people let you know if they are coming to your wedding. Like normally people send out RSVP cards with their invitations

It does save a lot of time, mostly cause we want to make handmade invites.

For large weddings, my cousins did online invitations as it did save a lot of time to mail out actual invitations itself. This way it was nice for the guest to go and see all the details and information about the event and allowing to RSVP directly back that way. They had about the same or over 300 guests attending for this reason.

As for I, it was a small wedding and online invitations didn't make sense though I could have gone WhatsApp or Facebook to save on postage. Somethings are better to the couples way point of view.

We are handing out as many invitations in person as possible and are mailing the rest. We are doing an online rsvp so we don’t have to do stamps for return mail.

I would stick with mail. People love getting mail that isn't a bill! Plus people love having them as a keepsake or a reminder to keep on the fridge.

As long as your invites aren't weird shapes, bulky or heavy postage shouldn't be too expensive. You can cut a bit by only sending pre-addressed RSVP cards to older or less tech savvy guests, others you can ask to reply on your website or by email. Also remember that 300 people doesn't mean 300 stamps, a lot of those guests live together and can share an invite.

For me personally, with that many people, some of whom may not be technologically savvy, I would do postage.

We have about 325 guests were going to invite and sent out just over 150 Save the Dates in July and it was worth it for us. It would've been a headache if some people didn't get an e-vite, or some people got them and some didn't - oh boy, disaster waiting to happen for us.
