Edmonton Wedding Venues - byob

Jenna, on December 22, 2019 at 12:33 Posted in Alberta 1 8

Hi there!

I have recently gotten engaged and am in the process of picking a venue. We need to find a place that allows us to bring our own alcohol and I am definitely struggling to find a place. We will probably have around 150 people. Any suggestions are definitely appreciated!

Thanks,

I agree that community halls will be the easiest way - some hotels may allow you to bring your own, but it will depend on the hotel. Sometimes you have to buy the liquor and then the hotel has to have someone to serve it to guests (someone who is certified to serve alcohol).

Don't forget liability insurance, PAL insurance is the least expensive provider and provides lots of options.

We got married at la cite francophone and we brought in our own alcohol. We did have to use their bartenders and they charged corkage. The food there is amazing! And there is space for an indoor or outdoor ceremony if needed.

There are lots of condo party rooms, or community centres or you can even rent a massive cottage and have everyone there by the waterfront

    Welcome to wedding wire!

When you’re looking at venues, make sure you check out the liquor laws before you sign anything. I don’t know much about Alberta but obtaining special event permits are pretty common and you may be required to have licensed servers/bartenders depending on your provincial laws. You may find it cheaper in the long run to have a cash/toonie bar depending on how much the liquor board will ask you to spend.
